See Picks & Statistics For The GameLast night, two of MLB’s best teams opened their battle in the Big Apple with a pitchers’ duel that went 11 innings. Will runs once again be at a premium for the second game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees (7:35 pm ET, FOX)?
Last night, Yoshinobu Yamamoto spun a splendid gem, tossing seven shutout innings. But he was matched by Cody Poteet and New York’s bullpen, and zero after zero went on the scoreboard.
In the end, things were decided in the 11th, when the Dodgers tallied the game’s first two runs on Teoscar Hernandez’s two-run double and the Yankees could only respond with a solitary run.
With Gavin Stone and Nestor Cortes on the bump tonight, two of the league’s better pitchers will be on display. That said, Dodgers-Yankees expert picks heavily favor the over. Is that the move for bettors to make?

Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Yankees Betting Analysis
After posting a 9.00 ERA and a 1.90 WHIP in 31 innings across eight appearances (four starts) last season, Stone opened this season by allowing eight runs, 13 hits, and four walks in eight innings in his first two starts this season.
But the light has since come on in a big way for the 25-year-old. Over the last two months, he has been mostly outstanding. In his last nine starts, he has allowed more than two runs only once. And since allowing four hits, five walks, and two runs against the Mets on April 20, he is 6-1 with a 1.64 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP in seven starts.
Entering tonight’s turn on the hill, Stone has not allowed a run in his last 13 innings. His most recent act of generosity was serving up a homer to Arizona’s Christian Walker to open the sixth inning on May 21.
So, the Yankees may have their work cut out for them to get some runs on the board.
The same may be the case for the Dodgers, as Cortes has been quite the stingy southpaw at home. On the road, he is 0-3 with a 6.17 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and an OBA of .290 in seven starts. But at the friendly confines, he is 3-1 with a 1.12 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP, and opponents are hitting just .170 against him. And while he has given up eight gopher balls on the road, he has given up only two at home.
Expert picks may favor the over, but in addition to those stellar numbers for Stone and Cortes, Dodgers and Yankees betting trends point emphatically to the under.
In Yankees home games, the over is just 14-16 (.467), which was 18th in MLB entering today’s slate. When the Yankees have been favored at home, the over is 14-15 (.483), which is also 18th in MLB. And in the Yankees’ non-division games, the over is 22-26-1 (.458), which is 19th in MLB.
On the other side, the over is 12-19-1 (.387, 27th in MLB) in Dodgers road games and 19-20 (.487, 16th in MLB) in games following a Dodgers win.
