While it no longer has an NBA team after losing the Seattle Supersonics, the state of Washington has a lot going on in the world of sports.
Seattle may have lost the Sonics, but it still has an NFL team (Seahawks), MLB team (Mariners), a new NHL franchise (Kraken), which started play in 2021, along with teams in MLS (Sounders), the WNBA (Storm), XFL (Sea Dragons), and NWSL (OL Reign).

In March 2020, Washington Governor Jay Inslee put his signature on HB 2638 to bring locally regulated sports betting into existence in the state, and the first bets were placed the following year.
There are major limitations, however. As of June 2023, in-person betting is limited to only the state's tribal casinos, while local online betting is limited to the premises of just one of those tribal casinos.
This may change at some point in the near future, but for now, Washington residents who wish to place sports bets from anywhere, whether it be the comfort of their home or elsewhere, can use offshore sports betting sites to do so.
