This isn’t the most attractive game in the world, but hey – we don’t discriminate. The Los Angeles Sparks take on the Dallas Wings tonight at the College Park Center. It’s the 3rd matchup for these 2 teams this year.
Both teams are having bad years, but we’ll start with the Sparks. Los Angeles is 5-17 so far and 1-10 on the road. They’re 1-9 in their last 10 games and come in on a 2-game losing streak.
The team lost their rookie star Cameron Brink to a torn ACL a few weeks ago and although she is a rookie, she was a big part of the team. Offensively, the Sparks rank in the bottom half of the league in most categories. They rank 11th in points (78.4) and 10th in rebounds (32.7) per game.
Their offensive rating is just as bad as their defensive rating. Los Angeles ranks in the bottom of the league for both as well as steals and turnovers. It’s a rough go for the Sparks so far, but this could be a bounce back spot.

It’s been a tough go for the Wings this season. They’re a shocking 5-18, sitting in the 6th spot of the Western Conference. The team hasn’t had Satou Sabally all season and Natasha Howard missed time.
The Wings come into this game on a 2-game skid and 2-8 in their last 10 games. Dallas isn’t the best at home with a 3-6 record, but it’s 1 more game than they’ve won on the road.
Arike Ogunbowale has been leading this team. She has started all 22 games this season, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. Teaira McCowan and Natasha Howard are both averaging around 7 rebounds per game each as well as double digit point totals.
Dallas struggles on defense. They rank last in the league for defensive rating and turnovers. Protecting the ball is crucial and it’s definitely hurting them. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

It’s a weird game because teams are struggling. The Sparks are horrible on the road, but they managed to get a win last game and I think they could do it again.
Now, we’re just looking for them to cover. The line is close, and I agree, I think we see a close game. Dearica Hamby should have a big game for the Sparks, going up against McCowan and Howard. I think she does work in between these two.
As long as Los Angeles has a good start to this game, we should see a close match. I like Hamby to go over her points line and rebounds line. You can take them straight or you can take the combo or points + rebounds.
Another pick I like it Arike Ogunbowale to get over her points line. It should be around 21-22 points and she has hit this line in 2 of her last 3 games vs the Wings. She is also coming off a few bad games and this is a great bounce back spot.
