This afternoon we have the new Commissioner Cup Champion Minnesota Lynx taking on the Chicago Sky. It’ll be the first time these 2 teams face each other this season. Minnesota is off to a hot start.
Fresh off the cup win, the Lynx are 8-2 in their last 10 games and are coming off a bad loss to the Wings. It was only the team’s 4th loss this season to go along with their 13 wins. Minnesota has struggled on the road a bit with a 4-3 record.
Napheesa Collier is the leader of this team. She’s averaging 21.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, which leads the team in both categories. Other play makers like Kayla McBride, Alanna Smith and Caitlin Williams are other reasons for their success so far this year.
Defensively, the Lynx have the best defensive rating in the league. They are 2nd in steals per game with 9.4 per game and only turn the ball over 4th least in the league. They prove to be a tough task for Chicago today.
The Sky will look to continue to compete although out matched
Chicago has been having an up and down year. They’re currently 6-10 on the year and are 4th in the Eastern Conference. This team has played some really good games although they haven’t come out on top as much as they want to.
Their offense is still getting used to each other. Over their last 10 games, they’ve gone 3-7 and they come into this game off a loss. Chicago is also only 3-6 at home so far.
Angel Reese has become a focal part of this offense. She’s averaging 13.5 points and a team leading 11.1 rebounds per game. Chennedy Carter has stepped up big time and is averaging 14.7 points per game.
Even though the Sky players are getting comfortable, they still aren’t very good. They rank in the bottom of the league for points, field goal percentage and 3-point shooting in the league. They do rank 5th in the league for defensive rating, but they’re going to have their hands full with the Lynx.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

We’re going to be backing the Lynx here and laying the points. This is a huge get right spot for Minnesota after their last loss. Although they aren’t the best road team, they are a much better team than the Sky.
I expect Collier to be running the show as usual. She’s probably good for 20+ points and 8+ rebounds. Kayla McBride will come back to life this game and provide around 15 points.
The Sky could contend if Carter and Reese get cooking, but the Lynx defense will smother them out. It’s going to be tough for to get to the hoop completely covered.
I do like Angel Reese to get 12+ rebounds. With how bad her shooting is down low, she’s an offensive rebounding machine. Chennedy Carter should also be good for 15+ points, but that will be juiced.
Minnesota could run away with this game, but the Sky are scrappy, so they should stay in the game to prevent the blowout.
