After another Monday break, the WNBA is back with three games. Some of the league’s best teams playing today. The Undefeated Sun takes on the winless Mystics, while the New York Liberty head to Chicago to face off against the Sky. Finally, in the late-night game out west, the Storm host the Mercury.
With only a few games, there were only two plays that caught my attention. Without further ado, here are my two favorite sides for tonight’s games.

It’s a big day for underdogs, as I love two of the three underdogs on the slate today.
Mercury and Storm are coming off big wins over young, developing teams. Storm is coming off a 15-point win over the Fever on the road, while the Mercury is coming off a 19-point victory vs. the Sparks. These two teams are in good spots, but I think in this situation, the Mercury are the more battle-tested and ready team.
Phoenix’s journey has been a rollercoaster, with a three-game road stretch against some of the league’s top teams. Before their victory over the Sparks, the Mercury suffered a humiliating loss to the Sun, failing to even reach the 50-point mark. It was a shooting performance that left much to be desired, with Phoenix shooting a dismal 23.8% from the floor and 3.7% from behind the arc. They then went on to lose their next two games to the Liberty and Lynx.

I do not believe the Storm are almost ten points better than the Mercury, even with home-court advantage. If the Mercury lock in, hit their strides, and most importantly, make their shots, unlike they did against the Sun. They should cover this number with ease. Even without their star big Britteny Griner, this team is still well-constructed.
Sky (+8.5) vs Liberty (-110)

My favorite spot in sports is a letdown spot.
On Saturday, the Indiana Fever recorded their first home win of the season in a hard-fought battle over the Chicago Sky. They then had to hop on a plane and play the New York Liberty on a back-to-back. New York put a whoopin’ all over the Fever in their dominating 36-point victory.
Now, the Liberty have to head to Chicago to face a Sky team dealing with controversy with guard Chennedy Carter and Angel Reese after their debacle with Caitlin Clarke on Saturday. Regardless, drama like this can either motivate a team or crush the energy around the team. I will be leaning toward the team coming out with a massive chip on their shoulder tonight and showing up against one of the league’s best.
The Sky, a young developing team, have been demonstrating their defensive prowess, doing an incredible job holding teams under 80 points. They are the fourth-best team in points allowed per game, allowing just 78.4 points per contest. Offensively they average just a hair under 80 points per game. Given this team’s defensive strength, I believe this is a fantastic spot for Chicago, especially coming off a tough loss and now playing at home.
