In the lone game tonight, the Washington Mystics (12-10) take on the Minnesota Lynx (10-13) at the Target Center. The Mystics are still fighting big injuries and will be missing key players.
These 2 teams have met twice this year, one regular season game and one preseason game. The Lynx have edged the Mystics out in each game, one by 2 points and the other by 3 points.
Elena Delle Donne, Ariel Atkins, and Shakira Austin will all sit out for the 4th game straight. Reports via Underdog Sports from today said that Delle Donne would miss the next 3 games.
Despite these injuries, the Mystic came out with a big win vs the Phoenix Mercury this past Sunday, winning 84-69. Natasha Cloud led the way with 23 points and 9 assists while Brittney Skyes also had 23 points and 5 rebounds. The win snapped a two-game losing streak.
Even with the recent injury struggles, the Mystics have managed to hold the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference. They’re currently 4-6 in their last 10 games and 4-6 on the road this season.
If there is one thing about this Mystics team is that they know how to contend. Questions is, can they continue the momentum from last game into this one?
Lynx trying to get on a winning track after rough stretch
The Lynx also sits in the 3rd spot in the Western Conference and are 5-8 at home this year. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games, but they are 1-4 in their last 5 games. They have some tough matchups, playing the Wings, Dream and the Aces twice.
Napheesa Collier has been carrying this team this season. She’s averaging 21.7 PPG and 7.8 RPG while being the only player on the team to start every game. Naphessa’s also shooting 48.5% from the field and 32.2% from 3-point range.
She’s surrounded by Diamond Miller and Kayla McBride. Both are averaging over 10 PPG and 3 RPG. Miller suffered an ankle injury the sidelined her for just about all of June. Since her return, she’s averaging 12.25 PPG and they are 4-4.
Both teams match up pretty evenly on offense in points per game and assists per game. The Mystics shoot the ball good from 3-point range, ranking 4th and lead the league in Free Throw Percentage. The Mystics also play better defense, ranking 3rd in the league in Defensive Rating.

Washington Mystics vs Minnesota Lynx Predictions and Picks
Pick: Lynx -2.5 (-108)
The two games these teams played earlier this year were close and that was with a full-strength Mystics team. I don’t think we see the same type of game this time, but we see the same end result.
Collier and company can crash those boards and get the second chance opportunities. The absence of Delle Donne and Austin leaves the Mystics in the bottom of the league for rebounding. Collier has also had 8+ rebounds in her last 3 games.
I think the line is correct and Lynx cover this by more than 3 points. If Napheesa can get in her grove, which I think she does, then it will be hard for the Mystics to contain her. She has put up 20+ points in 3 of her last 4 games.
Player Prop: Napheesa Collier O7.5 Rebounds (-128)
In her last 3 games, Napheesa has hit this line as well as her last 8 out of 11 games. She is a beast under the board, especially defensively. She had 8 and 9 rebounds in the 2 games played this year, with approximately 80% of her boards comng on Defense.
She will also be leading this team offensively, so I expect her to have her hands in everything. A poor shooting night from the Mystics could turn this into an easy cash on this play. She could mess around and get a double double tonight too.
