In the headliner of Sunday’s WNBA slate, Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, Caitlin Clark, and Aliyah Boston will share the court for the second time this season as the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever meet at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (12:00 pm ET, CBS).
When the two teams met two weeks ago in Indianapolis, a missed free throw in the final seconds by Chicago’s Marina Mabrey was the difference as Indiana held on for a 71-70 victory. With 6.1 seconds left in regulation, Mabrey stepped to the line with a chance to tie the game but missed the first, which would prove to be decisive.
It was the second win of the season for the Fever (4-10), who have since beaten the Mystics and Dream. They go into this highly anticipated showdown looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
While the Fever are starting to pick up some wins, the Sky (4-8) have lost three in a row and seven of nine since starting the season with two wins in their first three games.
A win for struggling Chicago would be huge, but it would be equally as important for Indiana. With little currently separating the teams in the lower half of the WNBA standings, the outcome of this matchup could end up being pivotal when the WNBA playoff picture shakes out. That said, the individual players involved in this game are why there will be a lot of eyes on the action even though the two teams are a combined 8-18.

Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever Betting Analysis
Obviously, Reese and Clark, as well as the South Carolina duo of Boston and Cardoso, are why this may be one of the most watched games of the WNBA season, even if it’s a noon ET game on a Sunday between two of the league’s lesser teams.
Of that quartet, none stood offensively out in the first matchup. Chennedy Carter, who generated a lot of chatter for a hard foul on Clark, led the Sky with 19 points and six assists, while Kelsey Mitchell led the way for the Fever with 18 points.
- Angel Reese: 8 points (2 of 9 FG, 4 of 6 FT), 13 rebounds
- Kamilla Cardoso: 11 points (5 of 7 FG, 1 of 2 FT), six rebounds
- Caitlin Clark: 11 points (4 of 11 FG, 2 of 9 3PT, 1 of 1 FT), eight rebounds, six assists
- Aliyah Boston: 10 points (4 of 14 FG, 0 of 1 3PT, 2 of 3 FT), eight rebounds, four blocks
A week ago Friday, Clark tied a season high with 30 points in a win over the Mystics. That performance, unfortunately, is an outlier among her other performances this month. In her other four June games, Clark is averaging 7.3 PPG and shooting 27.5% from the field and 25.9% from three.
But while this year’s #1 overall pick struggled last time out against the Atlanta Dream, Boston, last year’s #1 pick had the best game of her WNBA career with 27 points and 13 rebounds to help the Fever to a 91-84 win on Thursday.
Are things starting to come together for Indiana? That would be a premature statement, but the Fever have been at their best against the teams on their level.
Given where the Sky are in the standings, that bodes well for the Fever for this matchup. However, it’s also worth noting that the Sky have been better on the road (3-3) than at home (1-5). And in addition to their three road wins, they lost by one at Indiana, by two at Washington (in their most recent game), and by eight at Dallas in a season opener that they led with three minutes remaining.
I do think Indiana will win for the fourth time in six games, but Chicago will keep it close again. Were the spread a bit bigger, I would take the Sky to cover. But where it is, I’m taking neither side and focusing instead on the moneyline and total. The first meeting wasn’t a high-scoring game, but I’m banking on more points this time. The Sky are averaging 80.3 PPG on the road, while the Fever average the same number at home and are coming off of their best offensive showing of the season.
