We get one game and one game only Friday night on the WNBA slate, so luckily, it’s a good one. The Eastern Conference leading New York Liberty (14-5) travel to DC to take on the Washington Mystic (11-9).
They’ve met twice this year already with each team taking one game each. Both teams are coming off a loss Wednesday, so look for them both to try to get back on track.
The Liberty have come out showing they are a force to be reckoned with after signing star Breanna Stewart this past off season. Stewart is currently the front runner for the league MVP, averaging 23.1 PPG and 9.8 RPG.
This team is carried by its shooting. They rank 2nd in the league for PPG, 2nd in FG% and their forte – 3 point shooting. They are 1st in the league in 3pt FGs and 2nd in 3pt% which is led by Sabrina Ionescu.
To shoot well, you have to be getting the looks, right? The Liberty rank 1st in the league in Assists, led by Courtney Vandersloot who is averaging 8.7 APG.
The Mystics aren’t having the most ideal year, but they have been contending. They have got wins against teams like the Wings, the Dream and the Liberty who are tough teams.
The injury bug has been a problem for them. Elena Delle Donne and Ariel Atkins have been fighting left ankle sprains, but Shakira Austin has been out since June 25th with a hip strain. The Mystic are missing Austins’ 11.4 PPG and 7.8 RPG.
All 3 missed Wednesdays game vs the Fever, but the Mystic still hung around the whole game, only losing by 6 points.
You really can’t count these ladies out, even when missing their key players. There has been no news if they will play Friday yet.
The Liberty look to take their powerhouse offense to hold off the Mystic for their 15th win of the season.

Liberty vs Mystic Predictions and Best Bets
The Mystic are 11-9 on the year, but they are 7-3 at home, which says one thing. They like to ball out in front of the home crowd.
In the two games this year, the Mystic laid a beating on the Liberty in the first match up. The blow out was the first game of the season though, so take that for what it’s worth.
The Liberty then won the second game by 1 point in overtime last month. Ionescu had 31 points and Stewart had 11 rebounds.
Best Bet
Mystics +9 (BetUS)
Like I mentioned earlier, the Mystic seem to find ways to stay in games and keep them close. They should’ve won the last game shooting 47.8% from the field and 42.9 from 3.
One of the things they need to do better is clean the boards on offense. They were out rebounded 45 to 29, but of their 29 boards, only 2 were offensive rebounds. The Liberty had 14 offensive rebounds.
The books are also giving the Mystic 8.5 points which is crazy to me given the last 2 matchups. If the Mystic can shoot well from the field again and rebound better – then they have a chance to win outright.
Player Prop
Sabrina Ionescu O5.5 Rebounds (-125 )
Sabrina is a key part of this team and is their starting PG, so essentially their Quarterback. She is also currently a walking flame on offense.
She has hit this mark in her last 3 and her last 6 out of 7. She has had 8, 8, and 6 in her last 3 games. She’s avg just about 25 points and 7 rebounds in her last 3 games.
If the Liberty can out rebound them the way they did last game, then she should get 6 without a problem. Let’s pay the juice man a little to get this at a nice number of 5.5.
Update: Injury Report: July 21st, 10:00am
The injury report has come out via Underdog Sports and the Mystic will be missing 3 of their top 4 players. Delle Donne, Atkins and Austin will all be sidelined again. The line moved .5 point from 8.5 to 9, so not too bad.
