This is the 3rd matchup between these 2 teams in 11 days. The New York Liberty just beat the Las Vegas Aces Tuesday night to become this year's Commissioners Cup Champions.
New York actually won both of the prior games and by more than convincing fashion. They won by 19 points in the Commissioners Cup game and laid a 38-point beatdown at home on August 6th.
As of now, these 2 teams are most likely the 2 we see in the finals this year. The Liberty (24-6) are 3 games behind the Aces (27-3) for best record in the league.
The Aces have found themselves having trouble containing the Liberty. In each game, the Liberty have been able to find the hot player of the night on the team.
In the 30+ blowout game, Sabrina Ionescu went off for 31-points in the first game and then Jonquel Jones had herself a game with 16 points and 15 rebounds in the 2nd game. She was named Most Valuable Player of the Commissioners Cup.
Notable mention also goes to Liberty guard Marine Johannes for her performance Tuesday night. She had 17 points and hit 5 3-pointers in just 14 minutes of play.
In both losses, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young all put-up double-digit point totals. But also in both games, A’ja Wilson was held under 10 points. This trend will need to continue for the Liberty.
Wilson is having a hard time establishing herself due to not being able to control the glass. She had 7 and 5 rebounds in the 2 games, but all were defensive. This is due to Jonquel Jones controlling the boards offensively and defensively.
The defending league MVP will need to get back to her ways for her team to win. The Aces have also been perfect at home this season, which will also be on the line.
Both teams have been cooking as they’re 9-1 in their last 10 games played. The Liberty are 12-2 on the road, which is better than at home, so this should make for another great game.

New York Liberty vs Las Vegas Aces Predictions and Picks
Pick: Liberty +6.5 (-115)
This Liberty team is dialed in. I didn’t expect them to win the Commissioners Cup in all honesty and they showed out.
This team can obviously more than contend and know how to win games. Based on what we just saw the last 2 games, it looks like they have the Aces number to a tee.
Now 2 games equal a lot of film and you bet that thing you’re sitting on the Aces have been deep in the lab. That Cup loss most definitely stings and they’re going to want revenage.
With that being said, I expect the Aces to come out hard and strong. I like that even after the Cup win, the line for this game is only 1 point difference.
The Liberty have proved they know what they’re doing against this team. Give me the points in this game again, but not sure if they get the W.
Player Prop: Jonquel Jones O12.5 Points (-113)
She is coming off a game of her lifetime being named MVP of the Commissioners Cup. She had a dominating performance and she’ll look to continue.
In the game on August 6th, she just fell short with 12 points, but hit her line in her other 3 of the last 4 games. She has hit the mark in her last 8 out of 11 games as well.
Jonquel has been a problem has of late and was just a bad one for the Aces. They are going to need to make some major adjustments to control her this game.
There is some good value on this line which really makes me like it. Whether the Aces adjust or not, I think she gets the points, and we cash this value play.
