The New York Liberty are still playing catchup with the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA standings, but they couldn’t be playing much better right now. This afternoon, they will go for their sixth straight win as they visit the Indiana Fever (3:00 pm ET, ESPN).
New York (23-6, 11-2 away) hasn’t lost since an 88-83 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on July 19, and they have won six straight games on the road since a 98-81 loss to the Aces on June 29.
While wins have been plentiful for the Liberty, the Fever (8-22, 3-10 home) picked up a rare win on Thursday.
Their 91-73 win over the Lynx was just their third win in their last 18 games, and it broke a four-game losing streak. Indiana faces very, very long odds to win consecutive games for just the second time this season.

Can the Fever Challenge the Liberty at Home Again?
This will be the fourth and final regular season meeting between the Liberty and Fever, and New York will be looking to wrap up the season sweep.
In Brooklyn, the Liberty picked up two double-digit wins, a 90-73 win on May 21 and a 101-83 win on July 23.
The matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 12 was a different story, however. With under seven minutes left, the Liberty led 74-56 and appeared to be cruising to another comprehensive win over the Fever.
But Indiana incredibly rallied to force overtime, with Aliyah Boston, who has attempted only six threes all season, nailing a triple with no time left to send the game to an extra period.
The Liberty did prevail 95-87, but the Fever certainly made them work for the win.
Can they do it again in today’s matchup?
They go in on a positive note, having put in one of their most impressive performances of the season in routing the Lynx, who entered the game with six wins in their previous eight road games.
While Indiana has only three wins in 13 home games this season, they have kept blowout losses at a minimum. Only two of those ten losses have been by double digits, an 85-62 loss to the Seattle Storm on July 30 and an 88-72 loss to the Connecticut Sun nine days ago.
While the Fever are tied with the Storm for the fewest home wins in the WNBA, the Liberty have the fewest road losses to this point.
But of their 11 road wins this season, only four have come by ten or more points. They beat the Atlanta Dream by 23 (106-83 on June 9) and 30 (110-80 on June 23), the Seattle Storm by 15 (81-66 on July 2), and the Minnesota Lynx by 10 (76-66 on August 4).
New York Liberty vs Indiana Fever Prediction and Picks
Liberty vs Fever Picks: Fever +10.5 (-110 at Bovada) & Kelsey Mitchell over 16.5 points (-125 at Bovada)
The Fever are highly unlikely to pull off the upset, but they can at least keep it close enough to cover the double-digit spread.
If they are able to, Mitchell will likely be a big contributor to those efforts.
Mitchell has scored 17 or more points 16 times this season, including nine times in 13 home games. Thus far in August, she has hit the 20-point mark four times in five games. Her high in three games against the Liberty this season is only 16 points, but she will exceed that today.
