The East leading New York Liberty take on the Indiana Fever today in Brooklyn. Indiana is currently last in the East and tied for 2nd worse in the league overall.
The Liberty are coming off a strong win Friday night over the Mystic, never falling behind. Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones led the way in scoring while Sabrina Ionescu messed around and almost had a Triple Double.
Standing 15-5 on the year and 8-2 in their last 10 games, New York doesn’t look like they will be slowing down anytime soon. This team isn’t playing around this year after signing Stewart in the offseason and have made themselves a serious contender to win it all.
The Fever are 6-15 this year overall and 2-8 in their last 10 games. They are coming off a win against an injury ridden Washington Mystics. The Mystics were missing 3 of their top players from the game, so the Fever were able to sneak out a win.
Indiana, who is led by Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell and NaLyssa Smith, have struggled all around this season. They rank in the bottom of the league in Pace, 3pt Shooting, and Assists.

Liberty looks to continue their dominant year
These 2 teams have met twice this year already, with the Liberty coming away with both games. They won the first game by 17 points, but only won the second game by 8 points in overtime just 11 days ago.
On the July 12th game, the Liberty blew an 18-point 4th quarter lead. They only scored 12 points in the that quarter and had to finish off business in OT. The Fever’s Aliyah Boston led the comeback with 23 points and 9 rebounds and bench player Emma Cannon stepped up with 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Going into today’s game, you know the Liberty will have that blown lead in the back of their minds. They are 7-3 at home in their last 10 games. They were on a 4-game winning streak at home until this past Wednesday when they dropped a game to the Wings.
Indiana has been terrible this season. Their 6th win on the season that came against a beaten down Mystics team this week snapped an 8-game losing streak for them.
As mentioned earlier, they rank in the bottom of the league for most categories. The thing they seem to do the best is rebound, but they are up against a tough task with Stewart, Jones and Ionescu who all rebound well.
New York Liberty vs Indiana Fever Prediction and Best Bets
Best Bet: Liberty -12 (BetUS)
Looking at these 2 teams on paper, they’re complete opposites. The Liberty are an absolute offensive powerhouse and rank 4th in Defensive Rating. The Fever are 3rd to last in Defensive Rating this year, so they are going to have a hard time.
I see the Liberty coming out and doing what they do best – shooting the rock. They are the best 3-point shooting team in the league, ranking 1st in 3-point FGs and 3-point FG%, and I expect them to show us all that today.
The Liberty shoot well from the field all around too, ranking 2nd in the league shooting 45.6% per game. The other thing they do well is move the ball. Look for Vandersloot to find her teammates open from behind the arch.
Player Prop: Breanna Stewart O9.5 Rebounds (-120)
Breanna has put herself right in the middle of the MVP conversation this season. She has cleared her rebound line in her last 3 out of 5 games. The Liberty rank 2nd in the league for rebounds and Stewart leads the team, averaging 9.7 RPG this season.
In the two games they met this season, Brianna had 10 and 12 rebounds in each game. She will be up against the Fevers 2 leading rebounders, NaLyssa Smith and Aliyah Boston, but that didn’t stop her the last 2 games and I don’t see her being stopped anytime soon.
