When the Las Vegas Aces last met the Atlanta Dream at the Gateway Center in College Park, A’ja Wilson tied the WNBA single-game scoring record of 53 points last August. What does she have in store for their first matchup this season tonight (7:00 pm ET, ION)?

Wilson has helped the Aces (4-1) get back on track after surprisingly losing to the Phoenix Mercury at home ten days ago. She had 29 points and 15 rebounds in a win over the Indiana Fever last Saturday, then repeated that stat line in Wednesday’s win over the Minnesota Lynx.

So, the Dream (3-2) will certainly have their hands full tonight as they look to win consecutive games for the first time this season. They toughed out a 73-67 victory at winless Washington on Wednesday, but they will need to be much better on the offensive end tonight if they are to have a chance to upset the Aces, who lead the WNBA in scoring.

Was the loss to the Mercury all that the Aces needed to rediscover their best?

The Aces have yet to really destroy an opponent after recording 17 wins (out of their 42 regular season and postseason wins) by 20 or more points. But their performances in their last two wins over the Fever and Lynx are more like what we have come to expect.

In their 19-point win over Indiana, the Aces scored a season-high 99 points and made 13 threes. In Wednesday’s 80-66 win over the Lynx, the defense stood out, as Minnesota was held to 36.9% from the field and turned the ball over 16 times.

It will be no easy feat, but the Dream can hang with the Aces if they can produce on the offensive end.

They didn’t do that so well against the Mystics, shooting only 41.9% from the field and 28.6% from three. They also turned the ball over 17 times. Rhyne Howard, the team’s leading scorer, missed all six of her three-point attempts, shot 2 of 11 overall from the field, and was held to a season-low 11 points.

However, even if Howard and the Dream do get back on track on the offensive end, the Aces appear to have woken up. Look for the champs to record their third straight double-digit win and beat Atlanta for the sixth straight time and the 11^th time in 12 meetings.
