Last night, Caitlin Clark made her highly anticipated WNBA debut, coming out on the losing end as the Indiana Fever fell by 21 against the Connecticut Sun. Will Angel Reese have a better outcome in her pro debut tonight as she and the Chicago Sky visit the Dallas Wings?
Reese was one of two top-10 picks by the Sky in last month’s WNBA Draft. The former LSU star was drafted seventh overall, while South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso was taken third overall.
While Cardoso’s WNBA debut will be delayed due to a shoulder injury that will keep her out for at least the first few weeks of the season, Reese will be a key part of the Sky’s attempts to open a new era with a victory.

After finishing under .500 for the first time since 2018, the Sky have a new head coach (Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon) and several new faces, as three of their top five scorers, their top two rebounders, and their leader in assists from last season are on new teams this year.
While the Sky are looking to return to the upper half of the league standings, the Wings are looking to take the next step after finishing fourth in the league standings and reaching the semifinals of the playoffs last season.
They will start the season without Satou Sabally, who isn’t scheduled to return from offseason shoulder surgery until after the Olympic break.
But with Arike Ogunbowale, Natasha Howard, and Teaira McCowan, as well as new addition Jacy Sheldon, the Wings are expected to more than stay afloat in Sabally’s absence.

Chicago Sky vs Dallas Wings Betting Analysis
There are a lot of unknowns for the Sky, whose preseason preparations included a 48-point win over the New York Liberty last week.
Weatherspoon, who was an assistant with the New Orleans Pelicans from 2020 to 2023, hasn’t been a head coach since 2014, the last of her six seasons with Louisiana Tech.
Also, their roster turnover is rather significant, to put it mildly. Along with their additions of Reese and Cardoso, Diamond DeShields is back in Chicago after a season with the Phoenix Mercury, and she is joined by the likes of Chennedy Carter, Michaela Onyenwere, and former Wings player Isabelle Harrison, who missed all of what was supposed to be her first season with the Sky due to a torn meniscus.
With such significant personnel changes, it’s difficult to project what we’ll see from the Sky tonight and early on this season.
Sabally’s absence certainly is significant for the Wings, as she averaged 18.6 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 4.4 APG last season. However, they still bring a very strong team to the table without her.
Ogunbowale (21.2 PPG last season) is a big-time scorer, but she has gradually become a more well-rounded player, averaging career highs in rebounds, assists, and steals per game last season. Howard (16.5 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 2.6 APG) is coming off one of her best seasons, and McCowan (11.9 PPG, 9.1 RPG) had 17 double-doubles across the regular season and postseason in 2023.
Based on where both teams are at the moment, the Wings are the play tonight. Some additional action on their team total is worth a look as well.
