After a fun season, we have reached the end. In the last day of the regular season for the WNBA, the 8th seed Chicago Sky (17-22) will visit the 3rd seed Connecticut Sun (27-12).
Chicago clinched their spot Friday night with win over the Minnesota Lynx by a score of 92-87. It was their 4th win in their last 5 games, so they’ll try to bring this momentum into Connecticut. Of the 4 wins, 3 of the games were on the road.
The Sky are just above .500 on the road with a record of 10-9, so their current play is exactly what they want headed into the playoffs. Their defense does allow 83 points per game, and they’ll have a tough task holding the Sun to that. Chicago also has a record of 4-15 vs Eastern Conference teams which is just terrible.
Kahleah Copper has been leading the Sky this season with 18.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game and she will be out with a toe injury. Marina Mabrey has led alongside Copper averaging 15 points and 3.5 assists per game and will need to step up.
Connecticut has also won 2 in a row and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. They play pretty good at home with a record of 13-6 and 14-5 in Eastern Conference games. The Suns’ defense is the best in the league only allowing 78.4 points per game.
DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas, the league's top duo, have been playing unbelievable basketball. Bonner is averaging 17.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Thomas is close to averaging a triple double, with 15.7 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists per game.
This is the 4th time these teams are playing this year. The Sun have won all 3 previous matchups and won the most recent matchup by 6 points. Connecticut will be looking for the season sweep of the Sky.

Chicago Sky vs Connecticut Sun Prediction and Picks
Pick: Connecticut Sun -9.5 (-120)
We are most likely going to see a blowout. There is a chance that we don’t see one if the Connecticut starters are put on minute restrictions.
The Sun are the better team all around, from offense to defense. They should control the pace of this game from beginning to end. Kahleah Copper out with an injury just makes it even better.
Look for Alyssa Thomas to continue to dominate for that time that she does play. She is having a career year, so they may let her play. Same goes for Bonner.
If the starters don’t play the whole game, look for DiJonai Carrington and Rebecca Allen to see more playing time. My guess is the starters will play and take a nice lead. Once they get into the 3rd quarter, assuming they are up, the starters will get pulled.
This should be easy for Connecticut. I expect a double-digit win, so the line at 9.5 is right where I’d expect it to be. This is also a good game for the Sun to get a nice win for momentum into the playoffs next week.
Pick: Chicago Sky Team Total U75.5 (-114)
Weird pick out of me for once or at least out of the ordinary. The Sky have actually been hitting this line lately. They’ve hit this number in their last 6 out of 7 games and 7 of out 10 games.
Now you’d think I’d be taking the over, right? Not so fast. We can’t forget that the Sky’s leading scorer, Kahleah Copper, will be out. This will sway their total big time.
I expect the Sky to come back down to earth and take a beating. I could see them barely breaking 60 points with their line up vs the Sun.
