Atlanta Dreams vs Los Angeles Sparks Prediction & Picks (5/15): Dream the Team to Take Tonight

Last year, the Atlanta Dream were one of the WNBA’s better road teams for the first half of the season, then struggled to find a road win over the final two months.
Still, they made the playoffs for the first time since 2018, setting a platform to reach even higher heights this season. Tonight, they will aim to open the new campaign with a victory as they visit the Los Angeles Sparks. Tip time is scheduled for 10:00 pm ET.
Last season, the Dream won seven of their first 10 road games but won only one of their final ten. That saw them miss out on landing a top-four seed, but a return to the postseason was still a positive achievement.
With three players who averaged 15.0+ PPG last season back, as well as the additions of former Sparks guard Jordin Canada and veteran center Tina Charles, the Dream should have high hopes to make it back-to-back playoff trips for the first time since 2013 and 2014.

While things are on the up and up for the Dream, the Sparks are undergoing a rebuild. Along with Canada, who was traded to Atlanta for Aari McDonald and a swap of draft picks, Nneka Ogwumike also left Los Angeles.
Can top-five draft picks Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson make an immediate impact for the Sparks? The odds indicate a losing debut is expected for Brink and Jackson.

Atlanta Dream vs Los Angeles Sparks Betting Analysis
Which version of the Dream will we see tonight?
At their best last season, Atlanta was able to hang with the Las Vegas Aces, New York Liberty, and Connecticut Sun. In fact, they won on the road against the Liberty and Sun in back-to-back games last June.
At the other end of the spectrum, they lost 13 games by double digits, and in their two playoff games against the Dallas Wings, gave up 94 and 101 points in losing by 12 and 27.
With Charles and Canada joining forces with Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray, and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, the Dream should be stronger on both ends of the court this season.
How much improvement that will lead to remains to be seen, but Atlanta should contend to finish above .500 for the first time since 2018, when they went 23-11.
That would be a big achievement, given that they finished with a winning record only once over the last nine seasons.
For the Sparks, last season’s 17-23 finish marked only the ninth losing season in the franchise’s 27 seasons, but it was their third in a row and their third consecutive season without a playoff berth.
Given where the Sparks seem to be relative to the rest of the league, including the Dream, that streak is likely to reach four. That said, you never know how quickly a team can gel, and some surprising results could be in store.
Will one take place tonight? This Dream team has a lot of potential—perhaps not championship contender potential, but potential to be much better than WNBA futures odds seem to suggest—and they will showcase that potential tonight with a debut dub in Long Beach.
