Can anyone stop the Las Vegas Aces? Sure, anyone can, theoretically. However, no one is having much success doing so at present. How will the Atlanta Dream fare in their Tuesday night tussle with the Aces at Michelob Ultra Arena (10:00 pm ET)?
On Sunday night, the Aces avenged a July 7 loss to the Dallas Wings with a 104-91 win. It was their 17th straight regular season win at home and their seventh straight win since their loss at Dallas.
The Dream were also in action at home on Sunday, and they recorded an 80-73 win over the Washington Mystics. After losing three of their previous four games, it was a welcome win for Atlanta. However, they face long odds to follow it up with another win.

Will the Aces Hang a Hundred on the Dream?
In May, the defending WNBA champions opened the new season with a 105-64 win over the Seattle Storm.
They proceeded to go 11 consecutive games without touching the century mark again, though they scored 90+ points nine times in that span, including in a 92-87 win at Atlanta on June 2.
But in their last 13 games, the Aces have scored 100+ points five times in 13 games. That includes back-to-back prolific performances against the Wings and Chicago Sky, who were vanquished 107-95 at Wintrust Arena last Tuesday.
Will we see another high offensive output from the Aces in this matchup?
The Dream are ninth in the WNBA in scoring defense, allowing 84.6 points per game. But they are actually one of the league’s best defensive teams with regards to shooting. They rank first in field goal defense (42.2%) and second in three-point field goal defense (32.6%).
Yet it can’t be ignored that opponents are averaging 70.2 overall attempts (10th in the WNBA) and 22.8 three-point attempts (11th in the WNBA) against the Dream. That is a recipe for getting run out of the building against the Aces. Las Vegas is first in the league in field goal percentage (50.3%) and three-point field goal percentage (38.2%).
That said, when the Aces visited the Gateway Center in June, the Dream did better defensively than a lot of teams have this season.
In their five-point win, the Aces shot “only” 47.1% from the field and made just 6 of 21 (28.6%) from three.
Both of those numbers have not been frequent occurrences for the Aces this season. They have shot 50% or better in 15 of 25 games, and they have shot 30% or better from three in 20 of 25 games.
Atlanta Dream vs Las Vegas Aces Prediction and Picks
Dream vs Aces Picks: Aces -14.5 (-110 at Bovada) & Dream/Aces over 176.5 (-110 at Bovada)
Don’t expect a repeat of this season’s first meeting between these two teams.
At home, the Aces are averaging 95.8 points per game and allowing an average of 76.8 points per game. Only two teams have been within a dozen or fewer points of the Aces at Michelob Ultra Arena, the Wings in an 89-82 loss on July 5 and the Indiana Fever in an 88-80 loss on June 26.
In addition to their home success, the Aces are absolutely on fire right now, scoring 98, 107, and 104 points and shooting 50% or better in each of their last three games.
As stated in Thursday’s Dream vs Liberty piece, Atlanta has the ability to hang with anyone on their best day, including the Aces.
But their recent performances against two of the WNBA’s top trio are concerning. Against the Connecticut Sun, they lost by 11 on the road and eight at home, and they gave up 95 points in an 11-point loss in Brooklyn on Thursday.
It’s possible that the Dream could keep it close like they did last time against the Aces, but it doesn’t appear to be a likely outcome.
