Tonight the Las Vegas Aces (5-3) will head to the Crypto.com Arena to take on the Sparks (3-7). The defending champs are having a rockier start than one would’ve thought.
Las Vegas has lost 3 games so far this season and to surprising opponents. They dropped games to the Mercury, Dream and Storm. The Storm have been playing great basketball and is emerging as one of the teams to beat.
League MVP A’ja Wilson has been playing fantastic. She has started all 8 games so far and is averaging 28 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Wilson is still and will always be the focal point of this offense.
Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young have also started all 8 games. Each guard is averaging 18 points per game while Young is also averaging 7 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game.
This team is still not to be messed around with.
Does Los Angeles have what it takes to beat Las Vegas?
Los Angeles has got a few wins but are still finding themselves. Newly acquired Dearica Hamby has been making her name known. The #3 draft pick Cameron Brink is getting comfortable herself, starting all 8 games so far.
The Sparks don’t rank well on offense or defense. With new faces and a team that wasn’t very good to begin with, there is still a lot of work to do. On the bright side, 2 of their 3 wins have been at home, so that works in their favor.
Going 10-10 at home last year, they hope to do better, but are 2-4 so far. It’s going to be a tough task to hold down Wilson, Plum and Young.
Hamby has experience with Wilson, so could be helpful. She put up 29 points and 9 rebounds in the matchup earlier this year. I’m looking forward to seeing this matchup again.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Even though they dropped a few games, the Aces are just fine. They are still playing dominate and A’ja is having herself some fun. It’s going to be tough to contain her in this game.
I don’t see them being slowed down in this game. The Aces already beat the Sparks back in May by 7 points. Coming off a loss, this is a good bounce back spot for them and to lay it on them.
Expect the Aces to come out shooting early for a quick lead. Plum and Young will fire off some early 3’s. They’ll then continue to feed the beast down low. Wilson will get plenty of looks, which is why I like her 25+ points, but it’s juiced to the sun (-365), so we can’t play it.
As the season goes on, the sportsbooks need to get better with these lines. Luckily, they haven’t destroyed the game lines, but the props need to get better. At least we get the value taking the -10.5 which I think they clear easily.
