Will the third time be the charm for Ons Jabeur in a Grand Slam singles final? We’ll find out tomorrow as she takes on Marketa Vondrousova in the Wimbledon women’s singles final (9:00 am ET, ESPN).
Last year, Jabeur lost to Elena Rybakina in three sets in the Wimbledon final, then she lost to Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the US Open final.
Just as she was against Rybakina last year, she is favored against the unseeded Vondrousova, who is in her second Grand Slam singles final. In 2019, she lost to Ashley Barty in straight sets in the French Open final, also as an unseeded finalist.
Will the #6 seed back up that status this time around, or will her Grand Slam breakthrough continue to elude her? My prediction and picks for tomorrow’s Wimbledon women’s singles final are below, but first, let’s take a look at the odds for the match, courtesy of Bovada.

Ons Jabeur vs Marketa Vondrousova Prediction and Picks
While many might have been hoping for a #1 vs #2 final between Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, who were heavily favored in the pre-semis Wimbledon odds, both of these players have earned their way into tomorrow’s title tilt at the All-England Club.
For the second straight Grand Slam, an unseeded player is in the women’s singles final. At the French Open, it was Karolina Muchova, who upset Sabalenka in the semis.
This time around, it’s Vondrousova, who ended Elina Svitolina’s run at Wimbledon in the semis following Svitolina’s upset of Swiatek in the quarters.
Along her journey in London, Vondrousova has beaten four seeded players: #12 Veronika Kudermetova (second round), #20 Donna Vekic (third round), #20 Marie Bouzkova (fourth round), and #4 Jessica Pegula (quarters).
Jabeur has sent three fellow seeded players packing on the way to her second straight Wimbledon final: #9 Petra Kvitova (fourth round), #3 Rybakina (quarters), and #2 Sabalenka (semis). She also had a tough three-setter in the third round against 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, who is moving up the rankings again.
Ons Jabeur vs Marketa Vondrousova H2H Results
- 2015 Prague Open (qualifiers): Vondrousova won 6-3, 3-0 (Jabeur retired)
- 2021 Eastbourne International (first round): Jabeur won 6-3, 7-6 (7-4)
- 2022 Stuttgart Open (clay – first round): Jabeur won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3
- 2023 Australian Open (hard – second round): Vondrousova won 6-1, 5-7, 6-1
- 2023 Indian Wells (hard – third round): Vondrousova won 7-6 (7-5), 6-4
In last year’s Wimbledon final, Jabeur took the first set against Rybakina then was outclassed 6-2, 6-2 in the final two sets.
Jabeur’s wins over Andreescu, Rybakina, and Sabalenka might give a strong indication of where she is mentally right now. She lost the first set in both of those matches, taking the last two sets against Rybakina 6-4, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-3 against Sabalenka. And against Andreescu, she took the last two sets 6-3, 6-4 after dropping the first set.
She is where she needs to be when it comes to potentially having to battle from behind, and you have to hope that has rubbed off on her ability to keep her composure when she is ahead as well, which she didn’t do in the French Open quarters against Beatriz Haddad Maia.
There are a lot of players who have the ability to contend and win at this level, but for whatever reason, they fall short in the bigger moments. Will we see that happen with Jabeur again?
The third time isn’t always the charm, but it will be here. Vondrousova has had a fantastic Wimbledon, and I don’t think she will go quietly. But Jabeur will stay on track even if she loses a set, and she will win her first Grand Slam singles title in three sets. Give me the over 22 games in this one.
