Emma Navarro has already slayed one giant on the way to reach her first Grand Slam singles semifinal. Tonight, she will look to topple another tennis titan as she takes on Aryna Sabalenka for a place in Saturday’s US Open women’s singles final (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).
Navarro, the #13 seed, upset defending US Open champion and #3 seed Coco Gauff in the fourth round to reach her second Grand Slam quarterfinal in a row. But after seeing her first foray into the final eight end with a Wimbledon quarterfinal loss to eventual runner-up Jasmine Paolini, she ensured a career-best finish by dispatching #26 seed Paula Badosa 6-2, 7-5 on Tuesday.
That sets up a matchup with #2 seed Sabalenka, who is the clear favorite for the title now that world number one Iga Swiatek is out of the tournament after losing to Jessica Pegula last night.
Could we see our first all-American US Open women’s singles final since 2017? The odds are stacked against Navarro to make the first domino fall, but she already owns a win over Sabalenka this season.

Navarro vs Sabalenka Betting Analysis
It has been quite the breakout campaign for Navarro, who is certain to be in the top ten in the new WTA singles rankings even if she loses tonight.
She won her first WTA Tour title at the Hobart International in Australia in January, reached at least the third round in each Grand Slam, and was a semifinalist at the Canadian Open.
She also reached the quarterfinals at Indian Wells, and to do so she stunned Sabalenka in three sets in the round of 16.
In their other matchup this year, they met at that same stage at the French Open, where Sabalenka swept aside Navarro in just 71 minutes.
That same ruthlessness was on display from the two-time defending Australian Open champion in her quarterfinal win over Olympic champion Zheng, who was sent packing in only 74 minutes and had more than twice as many unforced errors (20) than winners (nine).
Sabalenka’s dominance has been on display on a regular basis over the last few weeks. Entering tonight’s matchup with Navarro, she has won ten straight matches, and nine of them have come in straight sets.
Navarro vs Sabalenka Prediction & Picks
Sabalenka is a heavy favorite to win this match and the tournament for good reason.
At her best, there are only a few players who can beat her. She beat both Swiatek and Pegula in straight sets on the way to winning the Cincinnati Open last month, and she has kept it going in the US Open. Even after losing the opening set to Alexandrova in the third round, she was unfazed and dominated the rest of the way.
However, Navarro does know what it takes to beat her, and to do so in three sets at Indian Wells shows some steel on her part.
She’s played very well to reach her first Grand Slam singles semifinal, and if she can serve well and put Sabalenka under pressure, she will have a chance. In her five wins, her opponents have made a total of 179 unforced errors, while she has made 89.
As the favorite going up against a first-time semifinalist, the balance of the pressure is on Sabalenka. Can she handle that pressure? Her breakthroughs can be attributed to improving in that area, but she still has her moments. Ultimately, she should win this match, but Navarro is playing with confidence right now and is playing with house money at this point. Don’t expect her to go down without a serious fight.
Navarro vs Sabalenka Prediction: Sabalenka to win
Navarro vs Sabalenka Picks: 1) Navarro/Sabalenka over 20.5 games, 2) Navarro over 9.5 games (-110 at BetOnline)
