Last year, Stefanos Tsitsipas picked up one of the biggest titles of his career, claiming his first ATP Masters 1000 win at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Today, Tsitsipas will look to join an impressive group of names to win back-to-back Monte-Carlo Masters titles as he takes on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final.
If he wins, he will become the latest addition to a list of repeat champions that includes Nadal (streaks of eight straight and three straight), Juan Carlos Ferrero, Thomas Muster, Bjorn Borg, and Ilie Nastase, who have all been repeat champions at this tournament in the Open Era of tennis.
All five of those players won here and at Roland Garros in the same year–Nadal has done it nine times, and Borg did it twice–and with a win in the Monte-Carlo final, Tsitsipas will be halfway to joining that elite list.

Favored Tsitsipas Seeks Repeat Against Unseeded Davidovich Fokina
With Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev both sidelined and Novak Djokovic having played little competitive tennis thus far in 2022, Tsitsipas has a chance to really gather a head of steam ahead of next month’s French Open.
For now, Tsitsipas is +700 to win the 2022 French Open, which puts him fourth behind Nadal (+110), Djokovic (+220), and 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz (+280), who lost to Seb Korda in the round of 32 of the Monte-Carlo Masters but has sky-high prospects for the present and future.
But a good clay-court run in the tournaments leading up to Roland Garros will shorten those odds for Tsitsipas, and winning this title would be the perfect start.
Tsitsipas, the #3 seed in the tournament, defeated #2 seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets in the semis to set up a Monte-Carlo rematch with surprise finalist Davidovich Fokina.
The unseeded Spaniard is in his first ATP Masters 1000 final–and his first career ATP final–by knocking out three seeded players, including top seed Novak Djokovic.
Last year, these two met in the Monte-Carlo quarters, with Davidovich Fokina retiring after Tsitsipas won the first set 7-5.

ATP Monte-Carlo 2022 Final Prediction and Betting Picks
It has been a great run for Davidovich Fokina, and after taking down Djokovic, another seeded player in Fritz, and a dangerous opponent in Dimitrov, he won’t be intimidated by Tsitsipas, especially on his favorite surface.
But after impressively putting away Zverev in only an hour and 15 minutes in the semis, it is hard to expect anything less than a Tsitsipas win in this one.
That said, Davidovich Fokina’s three toughest matches have gone to three sets, and with this being his best surface, I do like his chances to at least push Tsitsipas and even perhaps take a set off of him.
So, with that in mind, the over on the total number of games in the match is the move here.
Prediction: Tsitsipas to win
