The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is down to the final four teams! Sweden takes on Spain tomorrow morning, while England faces off against our host Australia Wednesday!
Let’s talk about this first Semifinal game: Spain vs Sweden.
Spain vs Sweden World Cup Recap
Spain finished 2nd in Group C after beating Costa Rica and Zambia in shutout form. In the final game, Spain lost 4-0 to eventual Group Winners, Japan.
The Spaniards got a nice draw against Switzerland and handled business in the Round of 16. Then they faced the 2019 World Cup Runner Ups the Netherlands in the Quarterfinals.
Spain scored a penalty kick in the 81st minute to gain the lead, but the Dutch had other plans. They tied it up in stoppage time and forced an extra two periods of play.
Spain was able to score a winner in the 111th minute and advance to the semifinals.
Sweden is the top ranked remaining team and for good reason.
They have not lost this tournament, and have allowed just 2 total goals in 5 games.
Sweden is solid both defensively and offensively. They went 3-0 in the group stage, outscoring opponents 9-1.
In the Round of 16, they played back to back defending champion, the United States. After playing a scoreless 120 minutes, Sweden advanced via PKs.
The Swedes then played Japan, who smacked Spain 4-0 in the Group Stage. Sweden dominated the match, winning 2-1 after allowing an 87th minute goal.
Sweden scored in the 32nd minute and quickly in the 2nd half to secure the victory. They totaled 13 shots with 6 on target.
In my opinion, they are the team to beat.

Spain vs Sweden Best Bets
I like Sweden to advance and will probably be sprinkling on them in a variety of ways.
I see the Spanish being extremely aggressive against this Swedish back line. But keep in mind, Spain fell flat on their face against Japan, the 11th ranked team in the world.
Now the 6th ranked Spaniards play the 3rd ranked Swedes who have yet to taste defeat this tournament.
I see this playing out to a low scoring game, with perhaps the Swedes sneaking one in late in the second half.
I am sprinkling on all of these accordingly, but here’s what I have.
- Sweden to Qualify (+147) 0.5u
- Sweden Draw No Bet (+163) 0.5u
- Sweden ML (+260) 0.25u
- Sweden to Keep a Clean Sheet (+225) 0.25u
As you can see, I’m all over the Swedes. I’m not sure why the Top Ranked remaining team in this tournament is nearly +150 to advance.
In a perfect world, Sweden wins 1-0 on a winner in the last 20 minutes of the match to cash everything.
Godspeed.
