This season in Major League Soccer will be one to remember. We are going to be able to watch the greatest player to ever play the game of soccer on our home soil.
The man himself, Lionel Messi, signed with Inter Miami on July 15, 2023, and the league has been on fire ever since. The American fans are so excited with some major stars coming out to his first 2 matches with the team.
Messi comes over from Paris St-Germain F.C. where he played for 3 years alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. Before that, Messi played for F.C. Barcelona for 18 years, where he amassed 485 of his career goals.
In the 2 matches in the Leagues Cup, he has 3 goals and 1 assist. In the 1st match, he came in the game in the 54th minute of the 2nd half.
Miami was given a free kick from outside the box in the 4th minute of Extra Time and Messi took it. He buried a beauty of a shot to put Miami up 2-1 and secure the win.
He started in the 2nd game and wasted no time and scored in the 8th minute and then again in the 22nd minute. Watching him play is like watching a man play amongst boys.
Ok, I could go on for days talking about Messi and can’t wait to this season, but we still have a game to talk about. Let’s get down to business. This will be the start of the Round of 32 of the Leagues Cup and Inter Miami (2-0-0) will take on Orlando City (1-0-1).
Both teams are pretty much home teams being from the same state, so the crow should be rocking. Inter Miami is the home team as they are playing at their stadium.
During the regular season, Orlando is the better team sitting 5th overall in the league with a record of 10-6-7. On the other hand, Miami is the worst team in the league, with a record of 5-14-3.
This will be another test for Miami to show they are a different team. They have made new additions along with Messi. They added mid fielders Sergio Busquets, Facundo Farias and defender Tomas Aviles.

Inter Miami vs Orlando City Predictions and Picks
Pick: Inter Miami ML + Lionel Messi ATG (-106)
Although Orlando has been the better team this year, this is a different Miami team. With all their new additions, Miami is going to look to be a contender.
Watching Messi during the first two games, it’s almost like the players are watching him in awe. He makes his way through so effortlessly and controls the ball with no problem.
I feel they are favored for a reason and it’s that Miami is a new team. They should come with offense firepower to get the job done.
Miami is averaging 57% of possession time per game so far this season. With the addition of Messi, that number should go up a lot. Their shots and shots on goal should also go up. He makes every player around him better, so now any player at any time is a threat at all times.
Since Messi’s anytime goal has no value (-210), we’re going to pair it with Inter Miami ML (-160) to get the value play of -106. Messi is going to find the back of the net at some point during this game.
After what Miami did to Atlanta, they’re showing they’re not messing around. They want to put the league on notice that they are a real team now. And a player like Messi can have that kind of impact to turn the tide for a team.
