Tonight in Germany we get to see the UEFA Champions League Semifinal between Borussia Dortmund and PSG. Now both of these teams have already seen each other twice in this tournament, as they both escaped the Group of Death. They find themselves matched up once again in the Semifinal, with this first leg happening in Dortmund.

In two games of group stage, PSG was able to secure a victory in France by a score of 2-0. A few weeks later, theses teams tied in Germany by a score of 1-1, however both teams advance to the Quarterfinals.

Paris Saint-Garmain beat Real Sociedad in the Round of 16 on a 4-1 aggregate score, winning both individual games as well. Then against FC Barcelona in the UCL Quarterfinals, PSG was beaten at home, but secured a 4-1 win in Spain to advance on aggregate 6-4. Now they face a familiar foe.

Dortmund took down PSV in the Round of 16, drawing 1-1 on the road but then beating them 2-0 at home to advance. Next up they played Atlético Madrid, and lost the 1st leg 2-1 in Spain. However, Dortmund was able to beat Atlético 4-2 at home, advancing to the UCL Semifinals 5-4 on aggregate.

Tonight, we see a rematch between two teams who survived the most dominant group in the UCL. PSG got the better of Dortmund in France, and they drew in Germany, but tonight I think the results could be different.

I lean with the home side, but of course the attack of Mbappe and PSG scares me a bit. However I am not worried about Dortmund’s defense, who have been rock solid the past few matches. In their last few UCL matches at home, Dortmund has beaten Atlético Madrid 4-2, they beat PSV 2-0, and lastly tied PSG 1-1 in Germany.

Point being, the defense has been incredible at home during this tournament, and I think that continues tonight. I expect them to out some extra attention on Mbappe and prevent him from leading the charge. As far as PSG goes, their offense has been clicking at an incredible rate, scoring 3+ goals in their last four matches.

However, I think Dortmund plays conservative, focusing on defending the attack. While PSG is known for their attack, I think they may hold off a bit and save some in the tank for next week back at home. Defense comes to play today, so I’ll be betting the under.
