See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe St. Louis Blues host the Minnesota Wild for Game 6 on Thursday night. The Blues are coming off of a 5-2 victory on the road in Game 5 and lead the series 3-2.
Vladimir Tarasenko was the star for the Blues in Game 5. He scored three goals in the third period to pull St. Louis ahead and run away with the game.
The only goal scorer for the Wild was, once again, Kirill Kaprizov, who recorded two goals to make it seven total in this playoff series. He has been the workhorse for the team thus far, but his solo effort was not enough to keep his team in the game.
Heading into Game 6, St. Louis has a chance to clinch a trip to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in front of their home fans. The Blues came into the series as underdogs, but have quickly put that notion to rest.
The odds are dead even for this game as no one team has singled themselves out as the dominating favorite. They have traded wins the entire series, and it comes down to whether the Blues can win three in a row.

Tarasenko and Perron to Lead the Blues
Let’s start with the trends. The Over 1.5 total goals in the first period line has hit in each of the Blues’ last six games. Five of those games came in this series.
The Wild have won eight straight games following a loss at home. After losing at home on Tuesday night, they are down in the series and face elimination if they can’t come through with a road win.
Now let’s take a look at the Blues’ offense. They have been getting production from multiple players during the series, but a few stand out with breakout games during the past few games.
Vladimir Tarasenko and David Perron have provided hat tricks for the team in two big victories. They have also combined for 9 goals in the series and are pestering goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury, every chance they get.
I expect these two to have a big night around the net if St. Louis is going to pull out the win and advance. Their offensive presence has been felt by the Wild’s defense, and there is no stopping them once they get on a roll.
The Blues also got a solid performance out of Jordan Binnington, who stopped 30 of his 32 shots faced in Game 5. The team is looking solid heading into Game 6 with a shot to advance at home. Their home ice advantage will come into play, as it is set to be a big crowd on Thursday night.
My prediction is this: St. Louis will use as many weapons as necessary and stay disciplined in order to get the job done. They have been excellent at limiting penalties and killing off the ones they commit. The Wild are only 4 for 19 on the man advantage in the series.
Minnesota will have to adjust after their last two games, which saw them lose both by 3 goals. Kirill Kaprizov will have another strong showing but he will need a lot of help from his teammates in order to pull out this tough road victory.
Wild vs. Blues Prediction and Best Bets
Minnesota Wild vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction: Blues 4, Wild 3
Best Bets: Blues on the moneyline (-110 at Bovada Sportsbook and BetOnline Sportsbook)
This game is hard to bet. The lines are all very similar and I don’t believe winning by two is great enough value for the risk in St. Louis. The moneyline does have value, as it is pretty low for both teams.
Another option is to bet the Wild +1.5. That is currently listed at -265 at BetOnline Sportsbook though, and it doesn’t provide as much value in this prediction.
The best value bet for the prediction I am making would be the over. I expect both teams to put up multiple goals, and the line currently sits at O/U 6.5. At +102 at BetUS, the money is there to be made.
