Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers, Game 6 Best Bets: Will This Series End Tonight?

Here we are, once again in Edmonton as the Oilers look to extend their season and send this series back the Vancouver. The Canucks could close it out tonight, after winning Game 5 and finally outshooting the Oilers for the first time since Game 1. A win would seal the series and punch their ticket to face the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals.
Look, these teams have tons of history. Their game tonight will be the the 10th meeting between these teams this season. The Canucks lead the season series 7-2, however the Oilers have been peppering the net much more, and it’s taken some outstanding goaltending for Vancouver to win that many contests. But they don’t care about that. They need to make sure they win one of these next two games, and I’m sure the Canucks would prefer to get it over with tonight.
Will the Oilers stand their ground in an elimination game? Or will Vancouver solidify their date with Dallas?

Edmonton Has Their Back Against the Wall in Game 6
Last year, Edmonton was in almost the exact same situation. In the Western Conference Semifinals, they found themselves tied 2-2 with the Vegas Golden Knights, headed back to Vegas. The Oilers lost Game 5 on the road, and then went back home facing elimination in Game 6. Edmonton led the Knights 2-1 just 3 minutes into the game, and held that lead through the first period. However, 4 unanswered goals from the Knights led the their series clinching victory, and eventually them lifting the Stanley Cup.
Now, Edmonton is back at home facing elimination once again in Game 6. Will this year be different? After averaging 35.3 shots per game in Games 2-4, they only mustered up 23 in Game 5, sneaking just 2 past Silovs. The Canucks were able to block 18 shots from even seeing the net, which is about what they’ve averaged this playoff series, but almost 6 shots more than their regular season average.
With their backs against the wall, the Oilers will certainly lean on their studs to get the job done and extend their season. And I’ll be going back to one guy who has gotten it done for us before this series.
Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers Best Bets
Best Bet: Connor McDavid Over 3.5 SOGs (-102) BetOnline
Look, it’s chalky, I know, and I do not care at all. When your back is against the wall, who do you turn to? Connor McJesus.
Big time players, make big time plays, in big time games, and that’s what McDavid will be doing tonight.
For nearly even money and the best line on the market, 4 SOGs from McDavid seems too good to be true, but I’ll take the bait in an elimination game. He’s hit this line in 5/10 games this playoffs, and 3/5 this series. He’s only cleared in 4/9 against Vancouver this season, but it’s not from a lack of trying.
McDavid has put up 7 shot attempts per game in his L4, and 3.75 SOGs in that stretch. Last game, he only had 2 on goal, but 6 total attempts. I could certainly see him having double digit attempts in this game tonight, which he did earlier this year against the Canucks at home. In their last elimination game, McDavid had 1 goal on 4 SOGs, with 7 total attempts. I think his teammates look to set him up for success tonight, and I know he can create his own chances as well.
Give me McDavid to rip the puck, put one in the back of the net, and force a Game 7.
