The 2023-24 NHL postseason has reached the end stretch as the Stanley Cup Final is set to begin on Saturday. This year’s matchup is a star-studded affair as Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers prepare to go head-to-head against Matthew Tkachuk’s Florida Panthers.
Just like with every championship matchup, the Stanley Cup Final is filled with can’t-miss NHL betting opportunities — especially when it comes to prop markets. Also known as ‘proposition bets,’ props tend to reflect individual/team performances rather than the outcome of a game or series, such as wagering on who’ll lead this round in points.
Finding the perfect prop can be tricky, though, which is why Betting News is here to help. Settle in as we take a look at the three best Oilers vs. Panthers series props ahead of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.
NHL Stanley Cup Final: 3 Must-Bet Oilers vs Panthers Series Props
All Oilers vs. Panthers NHL Stanley Cup Final 2024 prop odds are courtesy of BetOnline as of Wednesday, June 5 at 10:59 a.m. ET.
1. Most Points in Series — Connor McDavid (+125)
This year’s Stanley Cup showdown is littered with world-class talent. While several players are among the best that the NHL has to offer, none are better than Connor McDavid, who’s a great pick to lead this series in points (+125).
Since making his NHL debut in 2015, McDavid has led the league with a whopping 982 points — 141 more than the next-best player. After racking up a whopping 132 points during the regular season, the three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner now leads the playoffs with 31 points through 18 games.
Whether the Oilers win or lose this series, there’s a good chance that McDavid ends up as the top point-getter. He’s a threat to score or set up a teammate at any given moment and no one will bat an eye if he paces his peers in points yet again.
While other players might give him a run for his money, McDavid should be in the thick of things right until the very end.

2. Total Overtime Games — 1 (+150)
Nobody does the playoffs quite like the NHL, especially when overtime is involved. There’s nothing like watching two teams competing for an all-important OT goal with a series on the line. That tension-filled excitement is only taken to the next level when the Stanley Cup is involved.
As for this series, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw just one overtime game (+150).
Both clubs have seen their fair share of extra hockey this postseason. The Oilers have experienced overtime exactly once in each of their first series thus far while four of the Panthers’ games were decided with an extra frame — including three in the Eastern Conference Finals. Still, that’s an average of 1.3 per series.
Three of the last five Stanley Cup Finals have also just one OT game, including last year when the Panthers faced the Vegas Golden Knights. Florida won that game, leaving time to tell if that experience pays off this time around.
With how talented the Oilers and Panthers are, I won’t be shocked if at least one game goes to overtime.
3. Total Shutouts — 0 (-170)
Although this NHL prop isn’t as valuable as the other two, it’s a no-brainer to bet that this series won’t see any shutouts (-170).
Shutout victories have been rare for these clubs as the Oilers and Panthers have combined for just one this preseason. Edmonton notched a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in Round 1 but has since gone 14 consecutive games without a shutout. Meanwhile, Florida has yet to blank its playoff opponents.
These teams also have too much talent to be shut down consistently. Since the calendar flipped to 2024, the Panthers have only been held without a goal three times while the Oilers have been shut out just three times since the beginning of the season with the most recent instance occurring on April 3.
Throw in the fact that Stuart Skinner and Sergei Bobrovsky’s play has been up and down throughout the playoffs, it’s easy to see why zero shutouts are favored. Unless the Oilers and Panthers completely forget how to play hockey, I expect each side to score at least once per game.
