The Predators head into Ottawa following Saturday’s 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, marking the third defeat in the last four games. Meanwhile, the Senators hope to bounce back after allowing seven unanswered goals in a 7-2 loss to the New York Rangers over the weekend.
Both clubs are long shots when it comes to going on a championship run this season. Bovada’s futures markets only give Nashville +10000 odds (T-19th) to win the 2023-24 Stanley Cup Final while Ottawa is much further down the list at +30000 (T-27th).
With a plethora of betting opportunities surrounding a game between team teams that could use a win, it’s time to dive into my Predators vs. Senators predictions and best bets.

Predators vs Senators Prediction & Pick (1/29): Who Turns Things Around?
The Senators have been marred by inconsistencies throughout the 2023-24 campaign. Every time the team looks like it’s about to turn things around, Ottawa falls back into old habits — highlighted by the complete collapse against the Rangers on Saturday.
The Predators might not be the NHL’s best team, but defeating them tonight won’t be easy. For starters, Nashville has gotten the better of Ottawa over the last few years, winning four of the last five matchups between these clubs which includes a 3-0 victory in the most recent meeting on Jan. 9, 2023.
That’s without mentioning how the Senators haven’t beaten the Predators at home since December 2019, losing the two subsequent games 6-2 on aggregate.
Additionally, Nashville is 5-3 SU in its last eight road games this season whereas Ottawa dropped five of its eight previous home games.
The Predators have enjoyed a lot of success playing the Senators in recent years.
The Senators are also at a disadvantage when it comes to special teams, ranking 23rd (16.3%) on the power play and 28th (73.7%). Although the Predators are far from being special teams gurus, their PP (19.4%, 20th) and PK (75.9%, 27th) success rate is slightly better than the opposition.
It also remains to be seen if Ottawa gets strong play between the pipes. After Joonas Korpisalo was destroyed by the Rangers, Daily Faceoff points to the Senators starting Mads Sogaard, who is 10-8-3 with a .884 save percentage and 3.44 goals-against average across 24 career appearances (21 starts).
Meanwhile, the Predators will likely roll with Juuse Saros, who’s played quite well as of late. Although his 3-3-0 record in his last six starts isn’t eye-popping, the Finnish netminder owns a .930 SV% with a 2.05 GAA during that span. He also won four of his last five starts against the Senators.
Sogaard in the starters end for the morning skate.

I could see this game going either way. On one hand, the Predators are the better team this season and have had the Senators’ number. On the other hand, Ottawa will be desperate for a strong showing at home following Saturday’s blowout. I’ll stick with Nashville, but that could change if this is one of those games where Ottawa actually shows up.
With that being said, I do see the total going over 6.5 goals tonight. On top of the Over being 7-3 in Ottawa’s last 10 games, it’s also 10-3 in the last 13 Predators-Senators clashes at Canadian Tire Centre. The teams averaged exactly seven goals per game in those contests, finishing with more than 6.5 on eight of those occasions.
With the Senators unable to keep the puck out of their net lately, this game could be a barn-burner.

Best Predators vs Senators NHL Player Prop (1/29)
After browsing through Bovada’s Predators vs. Senators player props, I have to say I like the odds that come with Vladimir Tarasenko recording at least one point.
A late power play goal from Tarasenko and the Sens tie it up! 👏 pic.twitter.com/Y6t3JExRV1

Even if the Senators haven’t been consistent, Tarasenko has. The veteran Russian forward has 32 points in 43 games this season and has turned things up a notch lately, tallying eight points in his last 10 outings. Yes, he was held pointless against New York, but he also finished with at least one point in four of his last six home games.
With points in eight of his last 11 meetings with the Predators, I like Tarasenko’s chances of hitting this prop.
