The Pittsburgh Penguins (11-10-1) will host the Philadelphia Flyers (11-10-2) tonight at PPG Paints Arena in another Pennsylvania battle. This the first game of a back-to-back for these guys. Both teams sit next to each other in the Metro Division, with the Flyers in 5th place and the Penguins in 6th.
They haven’t played yet this year, but Pittsburgh is 7-3 in their last 10 games vs the Flyers dating back to 2021. The Pens swept the Flyers in the 3 games last season and the last 7 out of 8 games.
Both teams even have the exact same record on the road and at home. Regardless of home and away records for either team, this game will be packed with fans from both. Flyers fans will most definitely be traveling out to Pittsburgh for this one.
Although the Flyers haven’t fared well vs the Pens the last 10 games, they have been playing good hockey this year. Philly is on a 2-game skid but are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. They play pretty much the same at home vs on the road, having 2 more wins on the road vs home.
The Flyers don’t score a ton of goals, ranking 25th in the league. They do shoot a lot, ranking 6th most for shots on goal, but they have a horrible shooting percentage (8.9%) ranking 29th in the league. If you didn’t know, there’s only 32 teams in the league.
Pittsburgh lines up pretty well vs Philly. They both sit almost back-to-back in every offense category so far. The Pens have the edge at the faceoff circle, winning 54.5% of the time, which ranks 2nd best in the league.
Defensively, Pittsburgh has the edge with only committing approximately 7.5 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers average 11.7 minutes per game, so that can always be a huge factor.
One edge that the Flyers have is they defend shots much better. They only allow 27.7 shots on goal per game which ranks 4th in the league. The Pens on the other hand allow a ton of shots. They’re averaging only 31.3 shots per game which ranks 21st.
The expected goalies are Sam Ersson for the Flyers and Tristan Jarry for the Penguins. Both goalies have sub 3 GAA’s and Jarry has the better save percentage with .919. I believe both of these guys are going to be put to the test. Let's check out the odds and get into the picks.

Philadelphia Flyers vs Pittsburgh Penguins Prediction and Picks
Prediction and Pick: Philadelphia Flyers ML (+150) MyBookie
I think we have a barn burner on our hands. We have decent goaltending for the game, but I think these guys come out screaming. Stats for the year aside, pucks will be flying in this game.
The Flyers are due for a win against the Pens and have a good team this year. On a 2-game skid, this is a great bounce back spot for them in what will feel kind of like a home game.
Travis Konecny, Owen Tippett and Sean Couturier lead this team offensively. These guys have an advantage with how much they shoot and how much Pittsburgh allows per game.
Again, great bounce back spot for the Flyers to stay ahead of the Penguins in the standing. With how close these teams are on paper and this being almost like a home game for both teams, we’re getting crazy value as the books think Pittsburgh takes this game.
Player Prop: Owen Tippett 3+ Shots on Goal (-165) & 4+ Shots on Goal (+158) MyBookie
If you’re not familiar with this guy, you should be! Tippett had an electric year last season and has become a top offensive player for the Flyers. He currently has 7 goals and 7 assists on the year and leads the team with 77 shots.
He has been playing great these past 4 games, with totals of 5, 3, 4, and 3 shots in each game. Not only hitting the 3+ mark in the last 4, but he has also hit this line in his last 8 out of 10 games. A big stand out is in last 2 games vs the Pens last year he had 8 shots on goal in each game.
We’re going to pay the juice man for his regular line and sprinkle the 4+ for plus money. if you’re really feeling frisky, 5+ is +350!
