Prediction
Well, Game 1 didn’t quite go as planned if you are a Maple Leafs fan, as the Florida Panthers carried their momentum from knocking off the President Trophy winner Boston Bruins in 7 games and bagged Game 1, 4-2.
The Panthers came out aggressive and continued their huge momentum over from their massive Round 1 victory, and will look to do more of the same tonight to try and take a huge 2-0 lead down to Florida for Game 3.
Brandon Montour and Matthew Tkachuk both were fantastic in Game 1, with Montour continuing his fantastic scoring form and Tkachuk recording a hat trick of assists.
The Panthers will look to do more of the same in Game 2 tonight, while the Maple Leafs will be looking to push back and climb right back into the series.
The Leafs couldn’t quite get it going in Game 1. Toronto had plenty of chances but just couldn’t convert to keep pace with the fast-paced Cats.
The Leafs outshot the Panthers 36-28 and will look to put GK Sergei Bobrovski under the same amount of pressure again tonight, if not more.
A bright spot for the Leafs in Game 1 was the play of Morgan Rielly, who was able to bag another point, moving his point streak to 6 games. Auston Matthews and William Nylander were also great, with 13 Shots on goal between them but no goals to show for it.
More on Nylander shortly so keep reading 😉
Look for the talented duo to keep firing tonight and lead the offense for Toronto.
Best Bet
This series is looking like it has the potential to go the distance and will be a fight from start to finish every game.
Tonight, I love the Leafs to level the series and pick up a big win at home before heading to South Florida for Games 3 and 4.
I was almost going to take the Puck line but I will play it safe and go with the Leafs in Regulation to get the job done for a nice playable value.
Go, Leafs, Go!

William Nylander o3.5 SOGs (-108) BetOnline
Well, if you have been following me all season, you know I love betting on Willy and his SOGs. Today feels like a perfect spot to go right back.
He was awesome in game 1, with 7 Shots on goal on 8 attempts. He doesn’t have incredible success against the Panthers but the volume of attempts is there, as he has 6+ attempts in 4 of his last 6 versus Florida.
For the nice value and the added incentive of the Leafs needing to win this game, I love Nylander to pick up right where he left off in Game 1.
The ladder is a nice option too. He had 7 in game 1 and the attempts will be there. I could see him shooting early and often once again in this one, and possibly scoring a goal.
Bonus: Nylander 5+ SOGs (+185) BetMGM
