We have an absolute barn burner on our hands tonight. The Vegas Golden Knights (23-12-5) take on the Colorado Avalanche (26-12-3) in what should be a great game. They met up back in November and the Knights destroyed the Avs 7-0.
Colorado in sitting 2nd in the Central Division and have been heating up. They’re 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and coming into this game off a win. Home ice is always nice, and the Avalanche are 17-5-0 at home this season, so they’ll look to continue the success at home.
Offense is the Avalanche’s main drive in their game. They rank 2nd in the league for goals forced (3.66) and 10th for shots on goal forced per game (32). Ranking 8th in power play conversions and 4th in shooting percentage, this team is dangerous.
Led by Nathan Mackinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar, the Avs play a really well-rounded game. Mackinnon leads the league in assists with 44 and is putting on an MVP performance. He has 66 points, 1 point behind league leader Nikita Kucherov with 67 points. On defense, Colorado allows the 5th least shots on goal per game and are 10th in penalty kill with an 82.4% kill rate.
Goaltender Aleander Georgiev is expected to be in net for the Avalanche. He has an impressive 22-9-2 record with a 2.97 GAA and .893 save percentage. Georgiev leads the league in wins with his 22 and is 8-2-1 in his last 11 games.
The defending Stanley Cup champs are on a little bit of a skid. They’re 3-7-0 in their last 10 games, but they’re coming off a win. Vegas hasn’t played the best on the road this season with a 9-8-3.
Vegas is 2nd in the Pacific Division behind the Canucks. Although they play better at home, the Knights have managed to find ways to win. They rank in the middle of the league for more offensive and defensive categories.
The team has had multiple guys step up. Jack Eichel and Captain Mark Stone lead the team’s offense. Eichel leads the team in points with 41. Jonathan Marchessault and William Karlsson have also done their jobs.
Goaltender Adin Hill is expected between the pipes. He has a record of 10-2-2 this year with a 1.93 GAA and a .933 save percentage. Hill was injured with an undisclosed injury, and this will be his first start back.
Will Hill be back to form to hold off the Avs offense? Let’s check out the odds and get into the predictions.

Vegas Golden Knight vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction and Picks
Prediction and Pick: Colorado Avalanche Moneyline (-146) MyBookie
The Avalanche are really comfortable at home and it’s always a big game when one of the best are in town. This should be a barn burner competition wise, not sure how many goals are scored though.
I really like this spot for the Avs to keep it going. Mackinnon has seemed to hit a stride and heated up. Rantanen and Makar are also playing extremely well and the whole team is gelling.
Vegas will be able to keep up, but who knows how Hill will play with him just coming back. if Colorado gets out early and exposes him, it could be a long night for Hill and the Golden Knights.
Georgiev in net just gives them a better chance to get the win. He is 3-1 in his last 4 home games, but allowed 11 goals over that span, so he needs to be sharp.
We’re paying the juice man a bit, but I think the Avs at home is such an advantage and they get the job done for us.
