Welcome to the 2025 NHL playoffs! What a year it has been, and we have some fun in store. The 1st game of the playoffs is the St. Louis Blues taking on the Winnipeg Jets. These 2 teams played 4 times this year and the Jets took the season series 3-1.
St. Louis ended the season 44-30-8 and was 5th in the Central Division. A massive win streak willed them to the playoffs and the 2nd Wild Card spot in the West. The Blues won 16 out of their last 20 games to go on a run.
The Blues come into this game off a win over Utah on Tuesday night to close out their season. They are also 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, so still riding some momentum. Regardless, they have the toughest test in front of them with the Jets being the best team in the league.
Everyone’s going to have to show up for the Blues. Jordan Kyrou and Rob Thomas are going to need to lead the offense and not slow down. There’s a chance they will be missing winger Dylan Holloway who is day-to-day with a lower body injury.
Defensively, Jake Neighbours and Cam Fowler will also need to step up against one of the, if not the, best offense in the league. Goalie Jordan Binnington will be in net for Game 1. He has plenty of playoff experience, including being the starter for the Blues 2019 cup run.
Jets look to break President’s Trophy curse and win it all

Jets forward Mark Scheifele celebrates after his team scores a goal.
Winnipeg took the league by storm this year. They finished as the Presidents Trophy Winner as the team with the most points during the regular season. The Jets finished with a 56-22-4 record and 7-3-0 in their last 10 games of the season.
This offense ran amuck this year, ranking in the top of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Guys like Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele continue to lead this team on offense and in the locker room. Nikolaj Ehlers had a good season after missing part of it due to injury. He currently has a foot injury and is day-to-day.
For the Jets, protecting their star goalie has been the key to their success. Probably back-to-back Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck was fantastic this season. He finished with a 47-12-3 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
Hellebuyck more than carried this team and is expected to start Game 1. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

This should be a decent series, but I think we see the Jets roll here. We do have 2 experienced and good goalies on each end of the ice, so I lean with the under here. You know I had to find us some plus money to play, right?
We should see the Jets control most of this game. It’s going to be tough for the Blues to slow this offense down, which is why it’s a good thing they have good goaltending. Binnington won’t be able to do it all though.
Regardless of all these thoughts, give me the Jets to take Game 1 on home ice. They’re so powerful and have been waiting a long time to be the top dogs in the league. I see them winning this game probably 4-1 or 3-1.
Last game they played, the Jets held the Blues to a total of 15 shots. Give me Hellebuyck UNDER his saves line. It will probably be around 24-26 saves, but if the Jets turn it on like 2 weeks ago, then we should cash this one with ease.
