Tonight, the Anaheim Ducks will visit the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center. The Ducks will be looking to snap a 3-game losing streak on the road. Both teams have been struggling this season, sitting in 7th place of their divisions.
Minnesota is having an underwhelming season so far. They’re 4-5-1 in their last 10 games and currently sit 6 points out of the 2nd Wild Card spot. There’s still plenty of time to turn it around, but they need to step it up.
The Wild are coming in off a loss against the Predators. They gave up 3 goals in the 3rd period to lose the game. Defensively, Minnesota ranks in the bottom of the league for shots on goal allowed and penalty kill.
Their offense hasn’t been what it was last year. The Wild rank in the middle of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Kirll Kaprizov, Joel Eriksson Ek and Mats Zuccarello have led the way for the offense.
Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been out for the past week with an upper body injury. Back up Filip Gustavsson has been confirmed for tonight. He has a 13-12-2 record with a 3.28 GAA and .898 save percentage.
Can the Ducks snap this road winless streak, or does it continue?
Anaheim is having a similar year to Minnesota except not under whelming because no one expected them to be good. They’re playing with nothing to lose, which sometimes can be the best type of play.
They rank in the bottom of the league offensively, only averaging 2.54 goals and 28.7 shots on goal per game. Both rank 29th and 26th in the league out of 32 teams.
Frank Vatrano has been leading the team on offense. He leads the team with 21 goals and 34 points. Behind him is Troy Terry who leads the team in assists with 21.
On defense, they kind of mirror their offense – bad. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals and shots on goal allowed. Minnesota does have an offense that can be pretty electric which will cause problems for the Ducks.
Goalie Lukas Dostal has been confirmed in net for tonight. He has a 7-11-1 record with a 3.58 GAA and a .900 save percentage. Should be an interesting matchup tonight between these 2 teams.
Let’s check out the odds for the game and get into the picks.

Anaheim Ducks vs Minnesota Wild Prediction and Picks
Prediction and Pick: Game Total Over 6.5 (+112)
I know my pick seems a little crazy, right? But just think about it – we have 2 teams with talented players. There is no denying that they both can turn it on when they’re grooving.
Now the next point – we have 2 bad goalies. Both have a 3.25+ GAA and low save percentages. If Minnesota can get it going, they could pot 4 goals by themselves.
I like for the Wild to come out early and get a few. The Ducks will probably have a little bit harder of a time getting started being on the road. Home ice is the main reason the Wild are favored, but I’m surprised they’re favored by so much.
With the way these goalies have been playing, I think we cash this plus money without a problem. The Ducks can score once they get going. They will need guys like Vatrano and Terry to get them started.
Call me crazy, and that’s fine because I’ve been called worse, but should see an action packed game!
