See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Metro Division has a battle in Pittsburgh and we have you covered for all the Islanders vs Penguins picks. The Penguins will host the New York Islanders tonight at the PPG Paints Arena. These 2 last faced off in December and the Pens won by a score of 3-2.
New York is 30-28-8 this season and 6th in the Metro. They currently only sit 4 points out of the 2nd Wild Card spot. The Isles come into this game off a win over the Panthers Sunday where they came back down 2-0 to score 4 unanswered goals. They’re 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, 14-15-5 on the road ad 8-7-2 in the division this year.
This Islanders team still has a lot of work to do. They rank 5th worst in the league for goals scored, but 8th best for shots on goal per game. Unfortunately, they have the 3rd worst shooting percentage and the worst power play in the league.
For years, defense was New York’s forte, but that has changed with coaching changes. They rank 16th for goals allowed and 20th for shots on goal allowed per game, which could be worse. Just like their power play, their penalty kill is terrible, ranking 2 worst in the league.
Goalie Ilya Sorokin is expected in net. He is 25-20-5 this season with a 2.73 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Sorokin is 4-1-0 in his last 5 starts vs the Pens with a 3.15 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
Penguins look to extend win streak to 5 games vs Islanders

The Pittsburgh Penguins players celebrate a win over the Islanders with their goalie.
Pittsburgh is 28-31-10 so far and are 7th in the Metro Division. They’re on a 4-game winning streak that they’ll look to keep going. The Pens are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, 17-13-5 at home, but 6-12-4 in divisional play this year.
The Pens haven’t looked the greatest this season, but they are getting old. Crosby, Malkin and Letang will only be around for so much longer and their depth is not much. They rank 18th in goals scored and 15th in shots on goal per game. Pittsburgh’s good on the power play, ranking 8th in conversion rate.
Defense is where all the problems lie. They rank 2nd worst in goals allowed and 4th worst in shots on goal allowed per game. Their penalty kill is ok, ranking 20th in the league with a 77.2% conversion rate.
In goal, we should see Tristan Jarry. He is 12-8-4 this year with a 3.13 GAA and a .892 save percentage. Jarry is 1-3-1 in his last 5 games vs the Islanders vs a 3.43 GAA and a .891 save percentage. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I’m taking my boys in this one. They have a good history vs Jarry and always win games they shouldn’t. You know, like breaking a teams win streak (wink, wink lol). These 2 teams have a lot of history vs each other, which I have witnessed plenty of, and the Islanders are the better team right now.
One thing for sure – the Islanders need to win every game now, so it’s time to turn it up. Every game is extremely valuable with how close the standings are in the Eastern Conference. The Islanders and Penguins played a back-to-back last time they played, and the Isles took the 1st game 6-3.
With the history vs Jarry, I like Islanders props. I like Bo Horvat to get 3 or more shots on goal. He has hit his mark in his last 5 games and in his last game vs Pitt. His point is also a great look as he has record 1 in his last 4 out of 5 games. Both plays may be a little juiced, so you can pair them for plus money.
The Islanders put up 33 shots last time they faced Jarry and 5 went in. His saves like should be around 26 to 28 shots. I think we see a lower scoring game, but he sees just as many shots. This should be priced around -120.
