For the 2nd time this season, the Seattle Kraken (21-20-10) will face the New York Islanders (22-18-12). The Kraken won the 1st game 4-3 in a shootout. Kailer Yamamoto had the game tying goal in the 3rd period and iced the victory with the winning shot of the shootout.
Seattle sits 6th in the Pacific Division and comes into this game on a 2-game losing streak. Home or away, the Kraken seem to split as they are 10-12-6 on the road. They are also only 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.
Their offense ranks towards the bottom for goals per game, shots on goal per game and shoot percentage. Seattle has an ok power play converting 21.3% of the time.
The Kraken are led on offense by Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jared McCann and Vince Dunn. All 3 guys lead the team in points. McCann leads the team in goals with 21 and Bjorkstrand leads in assists with 27.
On defense, they play tighter. They rank 11th in the league for both goals and shots on goal allowed per game. Seattle also plays smart hockey and stays out of the penalty box, averaging only 8 minutes per game.
Expected in net in Philipp Grubauer again. He hasn’t had the best season with a 5-9-1 record, 3.25 GAA and .884 save percentage. The team will lean on him as the Islanders offense can be sneaky.
The Islanders have had an up and down season so far. They are currently in 4th place in the Metro Division and 4 points out of a Wild Card spot.
They are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Flames on Saturday, so this could be a good bounce back spot. Over their last 10 games, the Isles are 3-5-2. They just had a nice win vs the Leafs and looked like they may be making a turn.
Mat Barzal has been on a tear before and now after the All-Star break. Barzal has 40 assists and a team leading 55 points. He is just coming off a 7 shots on goal game. He and Bo Horvat have really clicked and are becoming dangerous.
Noah Dobson is having an insane year. He has 47 assists on the year and 54 points total. The return of Pelech and Pulock have been a huge help to the struggling Islanders defense.
Ilya Sorokin is expected to be in net. He has been extremely unpredictable this season so far. Sorokin has a 16-12-9 record with a 3.10 GAA and .910 save percentage. He wasn’t getting much defensive help early in the season, but lately he has been letting in soft goals and he needs to change that.
Let’s check out the odds and talk about some picks.

Seattle Kraken vs New York Islanders Prediction and Picks
Prediction and Pick: Game Total Over 5.5 Goals (-138) Get 50% up to $750 Deposit on BETUS for this pick
We have 2 goalies that have been leaky. Then we also have 2 offenses that can really score when clicking. They showed us they can both score last time they played.
I think we see a back-and-forth game tonight. Both teams are going to find the back of the net. Both goalies have a GAA north of 3 which already clears the over.
Seattle only scored 1 goal last night vs the Devils and are going to be looking to change that big time. The Islanders struggled vs the Flames even though they got 2.
The sportsbooks are throwing us a bone here with the line at 5.5. We’re going to pay the juice man and root for goals in this one.
