Battle of the Pacific Division heavy weights tonight between the Edmonton Oilers (30-16-1) and Los Angeles Kings (23-15-10). The rivalry showdown will take place at the Crypto.com Arena. They met once this season so far, the Oilers won 3-2 back in December.
Edmonton comes in after a win Friday night vs the Ducks and are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games. They were just coming off the loss that snapped their almost record win streak at 16 games.
The Oilers are 3rd in the division after having a rough start to the season. That winning streak brought them right back into play as a serious contender. Edmonton plays better at home but is still over .500 with a 14-10-0 road record.
On offense, the Oilers are one of the best teams in the league. They rank in the top 5 for goals forced, shots on goal and power play percentage. With McDavid, Draisaitl, and Hyman – you should have this good of an offense.
They have tightened up on defense, bringing themselves up in the rankings. Only allowing 2.77 goals per game ranks 8th best and they rank 3rd for shots on goal allowed with only 28.
Goalie Stuart Skinner has been having himself a year. His record is 23-10-1 with a 2.43 GAA and a .910 save percentage. He has been confirmed to start in net tonight.
Los Angeles had a hot start to the season but has since cooled off. They are coming into this game off a win but are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games. The Kings are currently right behind the Oilers in the 4th spot in the Pacific.
One thing that is not in the Kings favor is their struggles on home ice. They have a 8-9-6 record at home so far this season which is surprising. Most teams feel more comfortable at home which brings better play, but that hasn’t been the case this season.
Other than shots on goal, the Kings have fallen in the rankings for offensive categories. LA has dropped big time on goals scored per game. They rank 15th and were in the top 5 weeks ago.
The Kings do play good defense. They rank 5th for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. LA also has the best penalty kill in the league and will be relying on it to slow down the Oilers.
Cam Talbot has led the Kings in goal this year with an impressive season. Backup David Rittich will get the start tonight. He is 5-1-3 this season with a 2.09 GAA and .925 save percentage.
Let’s take a look at the odds for the divisional matchup and get into some picks.

I really like the Oilers tonight. We’re getting value on the line, and it’s not juiced too much. They’ve been playing unreal hockey as well, so it’s hard to not take them.
This offense has finally found itself. Connor McDavid is on fire lately with 5 goals and 7 assists in his last 5 games. He has had plenty of help with Draisaitl, Hyman and Kane playing well.
Rittich could be in for some trouble. He as pulled in his last 2 starts vs the Oilers and has allowed 15 goals over his last 5 games vs Edmonton.
With the way this team has been playing and Skinner in net, give me the Oilers. They’re buzzing and going to keep going. Look for Evander Kane to get his 3 sogs tonight as well. He has hit in 15 of his last 18 games vs the Kings and he books are giving us -110? Yes, please!
