The Colorado Avalanche (38-20-5) will host the Detroit Red Wings (33-22-6) at the Ball Arena tonight. The last time these 2 teams met was 2 weeks ago and the Red Wings came out on top by a score of 2-1.
Colorado has been playing well, going 6-3-1- in their last 10 games. They are coming off a 5-0 win vs the Blackhawks on Monday night. Nathan Mackinnon had 2 goals and tied Nikita Kucherov for the lead league in points with 105.
The Avalanche are 24-6-0 at home this year which is one of the best in the league. This team is an offensive powerhouse, leading the league in goals scored per game (3.65) and total goals scored (230).
Mackinnon has been tearing it up as mentioned before. Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar have been doing their part this year. Rantanen is 2nd in points with 79 and Makar has 52 assists.
Goalie Alexander Georgiev has been having a great year. He has a 31-15-3 with a 2.91 GAA and .899 save percentage. Georgiev is expected to be in net tonight for the Avalanche.
Detroit comes in on a 2-game skid but are 6-4-0 in their last 10 games. They’re currently 4th in the Atlantic, but in a playoff spot. The Red Wings aren’t the worst on the road with a 15-12-1 record.
Captain Dylan Larkin is out with a lower body injury which will be a big loss to the offense. The Red Wings rank 6th in the league for goals scored per game with 3.51. They don’t shoot the most per game but make them count with the 2nd best shooting percentage in the league.
This team is still surprisingly stacked even without Larkin. On offense, guys like Kane, DeBrincat and Raymond will need to step up.
Goaltending has been an issue for Detroit this year. Ville Husso has been out for quite a while, so the Red Wings have been playing Alex Lyons and James Reimer. Lyons has been great winning 18 games and a sub 3 GAA. He is expected to get the start.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Detroit Red Wings vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction and Picks
Prediction and Pick: Nathan Mackinnon 5+ Shots on Goal (-105) Get 50% up to $750 Deposit on BETUS for this pick
Colorado has been firing on all cylinders and their offense goes through Mackinnon. He just cleared this line last game, which was the 1st time in 2 games.
Although he has only hit this line 40% in his last 5 games, but he has hit the line at 70% in this last 10 games. He has been more than heating up as he in right in contention for the Hart Trophy.
In the last game a few weeks ago, Mackinnon ripped 11 shots on goal. He has also hit the line in his last 3 out of 4 games vs the Red Wings.
I love this spot for him to stay hot and continue to rip puck. This should be a good spot for the Avalanche to get back-to-back wins and maybe go on a heater. I think they win this game as well.
The sportsbooks are giving us nice value for 5 shots on goal. Considering he had 11 last game, laddering him is definitely going to be considered!
