See Picks & Statistics For The GameWe only have one game on the NHL slate tonight and it’s in the Eastern Conference. The New Jersey Devils (36-33-4) will take on the Buffalo Sabres (34-34-5) at the KeyBank Center tonight in Buffalo.
The Devils are currently 6th in the Metro Division and sit 5 points out of the 2nd Wild Card spot. They’re having a very disappointing season after the start they had. It was surprising to also see them move newly acquired Tyler Toffoli at the deadline after just bringing him in.
As we come down the stretch, the Devils only has 9 games left to get into the playoffs. Every game is going to matter that much more as every point they can grab is needed.
They Devils played the Sabres back in the beginning of the season and spanked them by a final score of 7-2. Tyler Toffoli has 2 goals that game, so we’ll see how the Devils will fill his void in this matchup.
New Jersey is coming into this game on a 2-game winning streak and are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games. They’re coming off a big win Tuesday night vs the Maple Leafs where they won 6-3.
Goaltending has been a huge problem for New Jersey this season. It even got to the point that they traded for goalies Kaapo Kahkonen and Jake Allen at the deadline. Allen is the confirmed starter for tonight’s game. He is 4-2 since joining the team.
Buffalo will look to get in the way of the Devils playoff push
The Sabres has high expectations at the beginning of the season, but they couldn’t keep up with them. They’re 6th in the Atlantic Division and are 8 points of out the 2nd Wild Card spot.
As the games tick away, the time is running out for the Sabres to make the playoff. They have 8 games left, so they will need to win roughly all of the games as the rest of the teams have games to play as well.
At home, the Sabres are only 17-18-1 and are coming off a 6-2 loss to the Senators. They’re 5-5-0 in their last 10 games and will have their work cut out for them against the Devils.
Goalie Devon Levi is expected in net tonight for the Sabres. He has a record of 9-8-2 on the year with a 3.16 GAA and a .898 save percentage. Levi will try to do what he can to cool off the Devils tonight.

The Devils are starting to heat up and at the right time. They have everything to play for and I expect them to try to keep the momentum rolling into Buffalo.
Jack Hughes has a good history in Buffalo, hitting his shots and scoring in his last 3 games there. He has scored in the last 2 games they’ve won, so he’s heating up. This is perfect spot for Jack to keep rolling. His Anytime Goal is +115 and we’ll definitely be playing it.
New Jersey needs this game a lot and it is a perfect spot for them to keep cruising. This could be an easy 2 points for them which would be big.
They now have a lot to prove to this league after they slipped since the beginning of the season. Getting into the playoffs quiets the nay sayers and shows they belong. Even if it’s a Wild Card spot!
Give me the Devils on the Moneyline and Jack Hughes to score a goal.
