A battle in the Pacific Division, the Edmonton Oilers (16-15-1) take their 3-game win streak to Los Angeles to take on the Kings (20-8-4). The Kings sit 3rd in the division with Edmonton in the 5th spot. This will be the first time these 2 teams meet since last year’s playoff series.
The Oilers won that series 4-2 and have lost some of the magic from last year. Edmonton had a really rough start to the season but have since bounced back. They’re 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and, as mentioned before, on a 3-game win streak. During the streak, the team is averaging 5 goals per game.
Edmonton is coming off a nice 5-0 victory vs the Sharks on Thursday night. Goaltender Stuart Skinner, who is expected to get the start tonight, stopped all 25 shots sent his way. It was his second shutout of the season. They’re 7-9-0 on the road and 6-4-0 in Divisional games.
Goaltending aside, the Oilers have really struggled defensively, ranking in the bottom of the league for goals allowed (22nd) and penalty kill (22nd). Edmonton does a good job of keeping shots on net down, ranking 4th best in the league for shots on goal allowed with 28 per game.
Their offense has been what is winning them games as they are the opposite, ranking in the tops of the league. The Oilers are tied for 6th for goals forced per game with 3.5 and 3rd for shots on goal with 34.1. Captain and league star Connor McDavid has been coming around. He has 12 goals and team leading 33 assists on the season. Zach Hyman leads the team in goals with 20.
Now the Kings have been buzzing this year and it’s been fun to watch. They have been playing a full game on both ends of the ice. Their goaltending has been a huge part of their success as well.
Leading the league in shots on goal per game, the Kings have found the back of the net plenty. They rank 5th in the league for goals scored per game. Their power play and shoot percentage are mediocre, but still getting the job done.
Their defense on the other hand is top notch and one of the best in the league. They sit at the top of the league of least goals allowed and 2nd least shots on goal allowed. The Kings penalty is also best in the league with a 87% kill rate.
Goalie Cam Talbot is putting on a Vezina worthy season. He has 14-7-2 record with a 2.11 GAA and .924 save percentage. Talbot is obviously a huge part of their success this season, but the Kings offense has also backed him all year.
Can the Kings defend home ice and end the Oilers winning streak? Let’s see where Vegas is setting the odds and get into the pick.

Edmonton Oilers vs Los Angeles Kings Prediction and Picks
Prediction and Pick: Los Angeles Kings Moneyline (-125) MyBookie
Despite their 3- game winning streak, the Oilers have to come back down to earth. They did beat the Devils and Rangers, but they are on their 4th game on their road trip. It is definitely going to be a fast-paced game though.
LA has such good defense to slow down that Edmonton offense. Ranking in the top of the league for goals and shots on goal allowed, it is going to be tough for Edmonton to get going. I really think the Kings come out a smother them.
Talbot lost his last game vs the Oilers in 2022 but won his previous 7 games dating back to 2019. This team has obviously changed over the years, but all those games had Edmonton’s big-time players playing, so this is no different.
Give me the Kings at home to be the party poopers for the Oilers win streak at decent odds.
