It’s the final month of NHL action. And that means slates will be a bit tricky to navigate. Certain key players on teams locked into playoff spots may start playing with less fire. But on the other side there are teams still battling for a final spot and there are players looking to impress their coaching and management staffs for new contracts. It will be important to zig and zag through the next couple weeks, and find NHL best bets at a discount! We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! 1. Jakob Chychrun Point +135 on BetOnline:

Remember in the 2016 NHL draft when Jakob Chychrun was snubbed by the Detroit Red Wings? Oh I ‘member. The Red Wings traded back in the draft with the Arizona Coyotes, opted not to take Chychrun with the 16th overall pick, letting the Coyotes take him instead. He was touted as a top five draft pick until struggles late in the season had him drop. And the Red Wings could have used a young defenseman at that time but decided moving cap space was more important. Chychrun ‘members this too.

While Chychrun only has three points over the last 10 games, that only bakes this MAJOR discount into his price. Chychrun has been a bit streaky all season, and he has been pointless in two games. But that extra motivation highlighted above makes this play an NHL best bet. As Chychrun has hit in 6 of the L8 games against Detroit. In fact he has 5 goals and 10 assists in 15 career games against them. A true point per game player vs the team who snubbed him.

So we have a great narrative to feed into this NHL best bet, and Chychrun’s struggles make the price great. But let’s look at more fancy numbers. Detroit allow the 13th most goals against over the last 10 games. So they are a decent enough target for points. But better yet, they have the 5th worst penalty kill in that span. With Chychrun on the top power play that helps solidify this NHL player prop.

2. Ryan Donato Point -130 on BetOnline:

It’s not often you get a player who has 13 points in his last 10 games at a betable price. But here we are. So why the deep discount on Chicago Blackhawk forward Ryan Donato? It stems from his perceived role and value as a player. Donato has been a depth, energy type forward for most of his time, including when he played for the Seattle Kraken. However, on a rebuilding Blackhawks team that role is elevated.

In fact on the Blackhawks Donato has been playing as the top line center with Connor Bedard. And while he doesn’t get top power play unit minutes, he still contributes on the second unit. Shockingly Donato also has a point in 60% of all games this season. Now the books are factoring in this recent hot streak with his price. He has hit in 16 of the last 20 games, but the Chicago offense is one of the worst in the league, which drags down his price.

But tonight’s matchup really solidifies this as an NHL best bet. The Blackhawks will take on the Seattle Kraken who are allowing the 6th most goals against in the league over the last 10. Factor in the fact that Donato may want revenge against his former team and you have an NHL best bet at a discount.

3. Logan Cooley point +110 on BetOnline:

At one point this season the Utah Hockey Club’s sophomore sensation was producing close to a point per game. He has a point in 60% of all games this season and is better on the road. There were also times he was playing on the top line with Clayton Keller and top power play unit. Well as second line center Barrett Hayton heated up and Cooley “cooled” off, he was moved to the 2nd power play unit. He also went on a 7 game pointless streak around this time.

Luckily Cooley just snapped that drought. He score a beautiful goal to help the Utah Hockey Club best the Vancouver Canucks in a pivotal game for the fight for the wildcard spot. Tonight Utah will take on a struggling Edmonton Oilers, and we have Cooley at a deep discount. It seems like the sportsbooks forgot this was a layer with a point in 65% of the last 20 games played. In fact Cooley had a point in 12 straight games until the an injury set him back.

Cooley has been reunited with Edmonton native and top sniper Dylan Guenther on the second line. This should help him get easier match ups against an Edmonton team who struggles with depth. Edmonton has been dealing with some goaltending woes, especially at home. They have allowed the 13th most goals against per game over the last 10. But this jumps to the 3rd most over the last 10. With Utah needing every win, a new Cooley point streak feels like an NHL best bet.
