The Betting News NHL best bets piece took one to the chin on Tuesday. Such a promising group of plus money props but unfortunately only Dahlin hit his SOGs for -1.2u on the night. But today is a new day. A Thirsty Thursday even. And yet again we have dug up value on three plays that look fantastic to use as straights to help build your bankroll or to use as spicy parlay pieces!
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.
And if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of my favorite futures and awards. So time to lace them up and get ready to ride with Betzky for my favorite NHL best bets for 11/7/2024!
1. JJ Peterka o3.5 SOG +136 on BetOnline:
One of our key strategies in these pieces is to chase players who are soaring for their shot volume. No matter who the opponent is, volume can be king. And right now J.J Peterka of the Buffalo Sabres is doing just that. He is a key cog to the teams offense, playing on the top line with Tage Thompson and the top power play unit. He was injured early in the season which slowed him down, but now we are seeing his relentless shooting ability.
Peterka has now hit in 3 straight and is averaging 6.2 shot attempts over his last 5 games. If you isolate his last three games he is averaging 4.67 SOG (shots on goal) and averaging 7.67 shot attempts in those three games. He is coming off a 10 shot attempt, 6 SOG performance against Ottawa and now gets a great opponent.
It will be the battle of New York tonight as the Sabres will face off against the Rangers in New York City. Peterka has hit his 3.5 SOG line in 3 of his last 6 games against the Rangers while averaging 6.2 shot attempts. Better yet, the Rangers have been leaky lately. They allow the 4th most shots against this season. Buffalo should be coming in hot after a big win against Ottawa. All this adds up to Peterka SOG being an NHL best bet tonight.

2. Johnathan Marchessault o2.5 SOG for -125 on BetOnline:
I love coupons. And today we are getting Marchessault at a discount. The known sniper has hit his 2.5 SOG props in 77% of games this season. So why the hell is this a betable price?! Well let Betzky explain.
The Predators are coming off a loss last night to the Washington Capitals. They are also playing against the Florida Panthers who allow the 14th most shots against in the league, and have at times been near the bottom for shots allowed. However, the Predators should be motivated to turn their disastrous season around, as their General Manager has already begun to call them out on their poor play.
So while Marchessault being in a back to back situation against a tough opponent isn’t ideal. It is also why we get this prop at a great price. Now the good news. Marchessault has hit against the Panthers in 2% of his last 11 games against them, averaging 6.5 shot attempts. He has hit in 3 of his last 5 games, and missed his prop two games ago. Back to backs haven’t effected him much either hitting in 7 of his last 10 back to back games.
I love discounts. So snip out this coupon and use it on one of the NHL best bets tonight.

3. Kirill Kaprizov 2+ Points +112 on BetOnline:
Minnesota Wild’s top forward Kirill Kaprizov is lighting the league up. He is 3rd in scoring with 22 points in 12 games. He also has had 8 multi-point games this season and 7 in his last 10 games. He also went pointless in his last two games. Bounce back baby.
And what an opponent to bounce back against! Tonight he will play against the San Jose Sharks, a bottom feeder team who allowed the most goals against last season and are ranked 3rd for most goals against this season. They have averaged 3.85 goals against per game and also allow the 2nd most power play opportunities to opponents.
That bit about the power plays is especially bad news for the Sharks. The Wild at one point had a top power play unit. And while they now rank 16th in PP% this is a great spot to get it rolling again. The Wild are also coming off a brutal 1-5 loss against the Kings. Kaprizov is in a great spot to rack up points and cash a plus money prop making it an NHL best bet!
