1. Jordan Kyrou o3.5 SOG +130 on BetOnline:
On paper this matchup could be tough for Kyrou. The Tampa Bay Lightning have been good about limiting shots against. They currently allow the 18th most shots against, which is slightly below middle of the pack. However, they are leakiest to the wing. And Jordan Kyrou has two things going for him. He is playing at home, and the gamescript.
The Lightning have been a dominant team this season, and are in 2nd place of their division. They have a super charged offense and can take the lead early in games. This means there is a decent chance that Kyrou will have to fling puck on net to keep up and keep the Blues in the game.
More importantly however is Kyrou’s dominance at home. While he has only his his 3.5 SOG (shots on goal) line 5 of 12 games this season, he has hit this same line 9 of his last 10 home games. He averaged 7.9 shot attempts in those home games vs 6 shot attempts per game on the road. Kyrou is coming off a 10 shot attempt game with 5 SOG and averages 4.8 SOG in his last 10 home games. At +130 this feels like fantastic value, making Kyrou’s SOG an NHL best bet.

2. Johnathan Huberdeau Assist for +150 on BetOnline:
This one is a bit risky. Huberdeau only has a point in 5 of 12 games this season. He started the season off hot with 6 points in his first 5 games. However, he has since cooled off. So why would we include him in the NHL best bets piece? The matchup is why.
Huberdeau is from the Montreal area, and always shows up when playing his childhood team. In his last 7 games against them he has record 12 points. Of those 12 points 9 of them are assists. The fact that Huberdeau’s point is at -115 indicates that the books understand how favorable this match is.
The Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames are both on a bit of a skid. While the Flames shutout the New Jersey Devils before they set off on this long Eastern roadtrip, the Canadiens are coming off three straight losses including an embarrassing 2-8 loss against the Kraken. They are allowing the 2nd most goals against in the league, averaging 4.17 goals again. They also have a mediocre penalty kill while allowing the 6th most power play opportunities to opponents.
Considering you can get a player’s assist prop for the price of a goal prop makes this play appealing. Especially given Huberdeau’s history. Lastely, Huberdeau is looking to snatch his 500th assist, having sat at 498 for multiple games now. Hitting this milestone in front of friends and family would be picture perfect, making this play an NHL best bet.

3. Rasmus Dahlin o2.5 SOG -120 on BetOnline:
Chasing volume here, and Rasmus Dahlin of the Buffalo Sabres is one of the top volume shooters in the league right now. It seems like defensemen have really fired pucks early in the season and Dahlin has joined the ranked of Quinn Hughes and Noah Dobson as a reliable shooter.
While Ottawa is a tough match for defensemen, I’m trying Dahlin’s current volume here. Ottawa are currently allowing the 2nd least amount of shots to defensemen. I understand why that may give pause. But over the last 5 games Dahlin is averaging 9 shot attempts per game and 4.2 SOG. This is the type of volume worth chasing despite the matchup.
We’ve seen Dahlin do this before too. Last season Dahlin had a streak where he hit his SOG prop in 16 of an 18 game stretch. He’s also hit his SOG prop four times in the last 5 games and against some strong defenses like the Dallas Star and the Florida Panthers. Sometimes the volume is more important than the matchup, and this is one of those cases, making Dahlin SOG a best bet.
