It is Tuesday, which means we are back with some NHL best bets. And these articles have been HOT! We are coming off a 5-1 week on the 6 NHL player props highlighted here and we are going to dig up some more winners. It’s an interesting slate tonight. Many teams are back at home after long roadtrips (Pittsburgh, Ottawa) and then others are in prime bounce back spots (Boston, Philadelphia, Minnesota). So we may need to navigate some choppy game scripts.
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.
And if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of my favorite futures and awards. So time to lace them up and get ready to ride with Betzky for my favorite NHL best bets for 10/29/2024!
1. Pavel Zacha Point +100 on BetOnline:
The Boston Bruins are on a bit of a skid. They have lost 3 of their last 5 games and are now allowing the 6th most goals against in the league. This was supposed to be one of the heaviest and defensive teams. They are also struggling to score, with the 11th least amount of goals for per game. So why are we on a Bruins player prop?
This is the perfect “get right” spot. The Bruins will host the Philadelphia Flyers who are currently allowing the most goals against in the league. The top line of Lindholm, Pastrnak and Zacha has been much too quiet over the last 5 games and will need to flex against a weak defensive team to get things back on track. While Zacha only has four points this season, he just snapped a 5 game pointless streak.
More importantly, Zacha plays with known Flyers burner David Pastrnak. Pastrnak has a whopping 18 points against the Flyers in his last 9 games. Of those 18 points 11 of them are goals. If Pastrnak gets going tonight there’s a good chance Zacha is along for the ride, making his +100 point prop one of the NHL best bets tonight.

2. Kris Letang o2.5 SOG for +160 on BetOnline:
Not much is going right for the Pittsburgh Penguins right now, besides their outlook of drafting at the top of the NHL draft. But Kris Letang has somehow found the fountain of youth and has been an absolute puck ripper this season. After starting off slow, Letang has now hit his elevated 2.5 SOG (shots on goal) line in four straight games.
The Penguins are back home after an unsuccessful roadtrip where they lost all four games and have now lost five straight. They should be motivated to bounce on a Minnesota Wild team who have now reached the end of their own long roadtrip. Letang is a vet presence for the Penguins and part of the leadership core. While his shot attempts have not been eye popping this match up makes up for it.
The Minnesota Wild allow the most shots against to defensemen in the league. Letang also has hit his 1.5 SOG prop in 6 straight games against the Wild and his 2.5 SOG prop in four straight. He averages 5.2 shot attempts when playing against them. The Penguins may be without top shooting forward Bryan Rust, meaning Letang may need to chip in. At plus money this NHL player prop has a ton of value making it an NHL best bet.

3. Alexis Lafrenière Point -135 on BetOnline:
If it ain’t broke, why fix it!
One of the advantages of betting on the NHL is that as an often overlooked sport it can take Sportsbooks longer to adjust lines. Alexis Lafrenière is the perfect example of this. He has a point in every game this season besides his last game against Montreal. He plays on the New York Rangers top line with Panarin and Trochek, and is part of one of the top offenses in the league. Yet his point is only -135? Chalk it up to the Sportsbooks slow reaction.
Lafrenière really jumped out as a start player in the last quarter of the season and into the playoffs. The 2020 1st overall pick in the NHL draft hit in 63% of the 16 playoff games last season. He had 20 points in total during that run and was one of the Rangers top producers during their run to the Eastern Conference Finals. During the playoffs Lafrenière faced the Washington Capitals in the first round and put up four points against them in four games.
The Rangers will take on the Capitals tonight in D.C. Lafrenière and crew with face backup goaltender Logan Thomas who currently sports a 3.36 Goals Against Average, and .884 save percentage which is… not good.
There’s a good chance for Lafrenière to keep cruising and get on the scoresheet. He has a point in every game this season but one making him an NHL best bet tonight. Especially at this price!
