The ice is back and this NHL season has been HOT! We’ve already had so many amazing games and the scoring has been very high. That means player props galore to cash on and we have a fantastic looking slate today.
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.
And if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of my favorite futures and awards. So time to lace them up and get ready to ride with Betzky for my favorite NHL best bets for 10/10/2024!
1. Alex DeBrincat o3.5SOG +115 on BetOnline:
The Pittsburgh Penguins got embarrassed at their home opener yesterday. And they are now walking right into a landmine. They will face off against the Detroit Red Wings for their home opener and Detroit looks primed to roll.
The Red Wings top line consists of Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat. All three can score, and all three can shoot. But DeBrincat has always been a sniper and LOVES playing against the Penguins. He has hit his 3.5 SOG (shots on goal) line in 5 of his last 8 games against them. In those games he has averaged 5.8 shot attempts which is right around the value we want.
DeBrincat hit in 44% of all home games last season, which is why this prop is plus money. But I love the value of it against a Pittsburgh team who will be tired and looked VERY leaky to wingers. Last season Pittsburgh allowed the 8th most shots against to left wingers, making this an one of the NHL best bets today!

2. Marco Rossi Point for -110 on BetOnline:
Marco Rossi got added to the top line, centering one of the best wingers in the league Kirill Kaprizov. The Minnesota Wild will take on what looks to be one of the weakest teams in the league, the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. This is a prime spot for Rossi to show what he can do as the teams top center.
While Rossi didn’t exactly light it up last year, the young center has a ton of potential. Known as a high speed, high skilled playmaker he could become the perfect fit for Kaprizov. And we really are using this bet to find some nice value on a Kaprizov point in a round about way. In his last 5 games against the Blue Jackets Kaprizov has a whopping SEVEN goals. Yeah, Rossi should be able to get on the board tonight.
The Blue Jackets had the 2nd most goals against per game last season. They also ranked 2nd worst in shots against. Unfortunately the team did not improve much this offseason and has big question marks in net. All this adds up to Rossi point being one of the NHL best bets tonight!

3. Robert Thomas Assist -105 on BetOnline:
The St Louis Blues came back and beat the Seattle Kraken in their first game this season. And the Blues top line helped get the job done. Jordan Kyrou scored twice Both goals were assist by Robert Thomas, the Blues’ top center.
And we are going to ride Thomas’ assist tonight. In his last 9 games Thomas has 7 assists against the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks allowed the most goals against all season last year, along with the most shots against. In fact they averaged over 4.09 goals against per game, which was historically bad. And while they made some improvements to the roster, they have one of the worst defensive cores.
Thomas is a playmaker. He ended the season with 10 assists in his last 10 games. And his goals to assist ratio leans very heavy on assists. His linemate Jordan Kyrou also has a knack in scoring against the Sharks all adding up to this being an NHL best bet.
