New York Rangers vs Florida Panthers, Game 6 Best Bets: Can Cats Advance Tonight?

The Florida Panthers are hosting the New York Rangers for Game 6 of this Eastern Conference Finals, and the Cats could punch their ticket to a second straight Stanley Cup Finals with a win tonight. After falling behind 2-1, the Panthers rallied to win in overtime in Game 4 at home to tie the series.

In Game 5 at Madison Square Garden, Florida was able to pepper the net 37 times on their way to a 3-2 victory, forcing the Rangers into an elimination situation. After a scoreless 1st, the Panthers initially fell behind 1-0 just 2 minutes into the 2nd, but equalized before the end of the period. The 1-1 tie held until mid way through the 3rd, when Anton Lundell netted the go ahead goal for the Cats. This was followed by an empty netter by Sam Bennett with less than 2 minutes left on the clock. The Rangers were able to net one more, but still lost the game.

Can they rally and pull out a win tonight to force Game 7? Or will Florida advance for a chance at redemption in the Stanley Cup Finals?

Can the Rangers Rally on the Road?

The Rangers backs are against the wall, and their season is on the line. A loss tonight, and it all essentially goes to waste. New York had Stanley Cup dreams all season long, and they can all get swept away in 60 minutes tonight.

The Rangers should come out absolutely flying. But, this could be hard for them.

New York has only put up 30 SOGs once this series, in their Game 2 overtime victory. They’ve only mustered up 23 shots in each of the two games in Florida this series as well. That is simply not going to get it done with the way Sergei Bobrovsky has been playing. He’s stopped over 90% of shots faced this postseason, and his defense has certainly been helping him out as well.

The Panthers have allowed just 24.4 SOGs per game this NHL playoffs, making Bobrovsky’s life much easier between the posts. Offensively, they have been peppering the net more than anyone else, shooting 33.2 times per game, and testing their opponents goaltender. I think the both teams look to pick up the pace in this game, as the Panthers operate that way, and the Rangers have everything to lose.

I think this game tonight is very fast paced, with tons of action, resulting in plenty of shots on net. While the Rangers are only putting up 26 SOGs per game, they are allowing nearly 33 per game. Point being, I think both tenders see plenty of action tonight.

Best Bet: Igor Shesterkin over 29.5 Saves (-126) BetOnline

Do I think the Rangers win tonight? Not necessarily. I actually lean with Florida, but I think Shesterkin gets plenty of work in. He’s already saving nearly 93% of shots he’s faced this playoffs, and he’s seen plenty thanks to the Rangers lack of defense. Like I said, the Rangers have their entire 2024 season on the line, so they need to speed up this game and do whatever it takes to produce scoring chances.

That is the exact style of play that the Panthers love, especially at home, so I think they keep up the pace. Thus, resulting in plenty of shots for both squads. I think Igor lets in at least a couple, but I expect 35+ shots from Florida which they’ve done in 5/8 playoff games at home this year. They are averaging 35.25 SOGs per game at home this postseason, and have games with 37 and 40 against the Rangers this series. I think the Panthers pepper the net, and Igor gets plenty of stops to cash our bet.
