The Avalanche have a chance to win the Stanley Cup on Friday night. What makes it even better is that they could do it in front of the home fans in Colorado.
Game 4 was a wild one. The Avalanche rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie the game at 2-2 in the third period. It would be the second overtime game of the series.
The biggest story of the game came in overtime. Colorado’s Nazem Kadri had just returned from a thumb injury that he sustained in the Western Conference Final. In his first game back, he beat Andrei Vasilevskiy with 7:58 remaining in overtime to give the Avs a 3-1 series advantage.
There was much controversy surrounding the game winning goal, as it appeared that Colorado had too many men on the ice at the time of the goal. However, there was no call, and the Avalanche were able to storm the ice in celebration.
Game 5 will present the Avs with their first chance to win the Cup since 2001. The Lightning will have a steep hill to climb, as they will need to win the next three games in a row to raise their third straight Stanley Cup.

Will This Be the Final Game of the NHL Season?
All of the momentum has shifted to the Avalanche’s side following their overtime victory. They return home where they are 7-2 in these playoffs. Overall, Colorado has only lost 3 games during the postseason, and they have a chance to win their 16th game tonight.
If the Lightning are going to climb out of this hole the Avs have created, it starts with taking it one game at a time. They will have a tough test on the road, where they have been inconsistent during the postseason.
Tampa is 5-6 on the road in the playoffs. Compared to their 8-2 record at home, they have struggled mightily. If they are going to pull it out, they will have to win 2 of the next 3 games on the road.
The Avalanche have only outscored the Lightning 16-11 but hold the commanding lead in the series. They have won both overtime games in the Final and seem to be finding ways to win tight games.
If Colorado can play like they did in Game 4, they will have a chance to etch their names into thee Stanley Cup.
