After back-to-back losses, the Lightning head into tonight’s contest following Saturday’s 4-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. On the flip side, the Bruins aim to return to the win column after falling 3-0 to the Washington Capitals over the weekend.
When it comes to competing for the Atlantic Division crown, Boston is the clear-cut favorite at -145 odds while Tampa Bay sits fourth at +4000, per BetOnline’s futures markets.
Before a division winner is decided, we have to get to tonight’s action and betting opportunities. Let’s get things started with my Lightning vs. Bruins predictions and best bets.

Lightning vs Bruins Prediction & Pick (2/13): Atlantic Rivalry Continues
Tonight’s game is the third of four between the Lightning and Bruins this season.
The first matchup was a back-and-forth affair as Tampa Bay eventually picked up a 5-4 overtime win at Amalie Arena. Boston got some revenge two months later with a massive 7-3 victory at TD Garden as six different Bruins scored goals that night.
The most recent outcome is what these rivals are used to as the Bruins have now won seven of their last nine games against the Lightning. Boston hasn’t had any issues putting goals against Jon Cooper’s team, averaging 3.67 goals during that span while Tampa Bay averaged 2.33.
Making matters worse for the Lightning is that they’ve lost four straight trips to TD Garden, having not beaten the Bruins in Boston since a 3-2 win on Dec. 4, 2021.
It’s been more than two years since the Lightning won in Boston. Will that change tonight?
Solving their recent offensive struggles is something the Bruins must do to snap their skid. They’ve been held to one or fewer goals in two of their last three home games, which is uncharacteristic given that the Bruins average the eighth-most goals in the NHL this season.
The Lightning average the seventh-most goals, but their attack hasn’t been all that consistent lately. Yes, they scored four goals against the Blue Jackets a few nights back, but they were also outscored 9-3 on aggregate in back-to-back losses to the Rangers and Islanders before that. It will be harder to score against Boston than it was against Columbus.
The Bruins also have a better shot at victory if starting goaltender Linus Ullmark continues his impressive play. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is 6-1-0 with a 2.25 goals-against average, .921 save percentage, and one shutout in his last eight appearances.
The Lightning are receiving great play from Andrei Vasilevskiy, too. The Russian netminder boasts an 8-2-0 record in his last 10 starts, backstopping his way to a 2.41 GAA and .912 SV%.
Will Andrei Vasilevskiy continue his rock-solid play tonight?
After getting shut out by the Capitals, I predict a Bruins victory tonight. They’re going to be hungry to release some anger and the Lightning are in danger of dealing with that wrath. Tampa Bay will put up a fight in what should be a close game, but Boston has its rival’s number and will prevail in the end.
I will take a neutral bet by backing the Under, though, as it’s been too prevalent to ignore. For starters, the Under is 4-2 in Tampa Bay’s last six games and 6-1 in Boston’s seven previous overall as well as 5-0 in its last five at home.
Furthermore, the Under is 5-1 in the last six Lightning-Bruins collisions at TD Garden, averaging 5.12 goals per game. With both starting goaltenders playing well as of late, the chances of a high-scoring affair are low tonight.

Best Lightning vs Bruins NHL Player Prop (2/13)
It’s been a long time since I’ve backed this bet, but I’m taking David Pastrnak to record over 4.5 shots on goal for the best Lightning vs. Bruins player prop.
Nobody generates more offensive opportunities than Pastrnak, who leads the NHL with 260 shots on goal. When it comes to this prop, he’s finished with the Over in 27-of-52 games (51.9%) and has finished with at least five SOG in five of his last nine outings as well as in four of the last seven at home.
Additionally, the Over is 6-2 in his last eight meetings with the Lightning, averaging 5.8 SOG. With the Bruins desperately needing a bounce-back showcase tonight, look for Pastrnak to lead the charge.
Best Lightning vs Bruins Prop Bet: David Pastrnak o4.5 Shots on Goal (-124)
