It isn’t a secret that both clubs could use a win tonight. Sunday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues marked the sixth loss in the Kings’ last seven games. Meanwhile, the Predators are coming off a 4-3 OT loss to the Ottawa Senators that saw them blow a 3-0 lead.
If either club wants to represent the West at the 2023-24 Stanley Cup Final, it’s an uphill battle. Per Bovada’s futures markets, the Kings sit at +850 odds (7th) to win the Western Conference Finals while the Predators are available at +5000 (T-8th).
With many bets needing to be made, let’s not waste any more time. Let’s look at tonight’s Kings vs. Predators predictions and best bets.

Kings vs Predators Prediction & Pick (1/31): Two Slumping Clubs Collide
The good news for these slumping teams is that one of them has to win tonight. Time will tell who’s more deserving, though.
The Kings’ collapse has been fascinating to watch. After all, they boasted a 20-7-4 record as of Dec. 27 and looked poised to challenge for the Stanley Cup. Since then, the Kings have fallen off a cliff, going 2-8-6 in the subsequent 16 games.
While the Predators haven’t been struggling nearly as long, four losses in their last five games is a concerning trend. What’s also concerning is how Nashville blew a 3-0 lead to Ottawa after the first period on Monday, surrendering four unanswered goals.
The Predators might also be the home team tonight, but that status doesn’t provide much of an edge. Nashville has dropped five of its last seven home games, picking up four of those losses by a double-digit margin.
At the same time, it isn’t like the Kings have found road success. Todd McLellan’s team has dropped eight of the last nine away games, having only won once on the road in January.
It’s also worth noting that Los Angeles is 1-5 SU in its last six trips to Bridgestone Arena, which includes a 5-3 loss during the most recent visit on Jan. 21, 2023.
In fact, the Predators are a dominant 12-3 SU in their 15 previous meetings with the Kings overall.
Having said that, the visitors do have the special teams edge tonight. While the Kings rank 16th and first on the power play and penalty kill, respectively, the Predators sit 20th and 27th in that regard.
Will the special teams edge help the Kings overcome the Predators tonight?
In a game that could go either way, I’m taking the Predators. They’ve had the Kings’ number for the last two years — especially at Bridgestone Arena. Los Angeles has also been disastrous on the road lately and I refuse to back it as a visitor until a real turnaround occurs.
And with the moneyline being as close as it is, taking Nashville outright makes the most sense. After all, it was just under two weeks ago when the Predators notched a 2-1 victory over the Kings at crypto.com Arena. Considering how the Kings can’t keep the puck out of their net lately, the Preds don’t have an excuse not to beat them twice in a row.

Best Kings vs Predators NHL Player Prop (1/31)
I like the Over on Filip Forsberg’s 3.5-shot total as the best Kings vs. Predators player prop tonight.
Forsberg has been registering shots on goal like no tomorrow lately, averaging 4.3 SOG across his last 18 games. He registered the Over 11 times during that span, which includes six SOG against the Kings on Jan. 18.
After tallying at least four SOG in each of his last three games against Los Angeles, you’d be silly not to back this Forsberg prop tonight.
Best Kings vs Predators Prop Bet: Filip Forsberg o3.5 SOG (-125)
