The Hurricanes could use some momentum after falling 5-2 to the Minnesota Wild in their latest outing. Meanwhile, the Bruins are one of the NHL’s hottest clubs, earning their fifth straight win in the form of Monday’s 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.
There’s a good chance that one of these clubs will represent the east at the Stanley Cup Final. Boston is currently tied for the second-best Stanley Cup odds (+750) while Carolina is in a tie for fourth (+1000), per Bovada’s futures markets.
In the meantime, let’s explore everything you need to know about tonight’s clash with my Hurricanes vs. Bruins betting preview.

Hurricanes vs Bruins Prediction & Pick (1/24): Will Boston’s Momentum Continue?
It’s hard to imagine the Bruins slowing down at this rate. The Atlantic Division leaders have dominated the competition during their winning streak, outscoring their foes 25-10 on aggregate while converting on 23.5% (4-for-17) power-play opportunities. Four players are playing at a point-per-game pace during that run, including David Pastrnak, who leads the team with 10 points in five games.
The Bruins also have the benefit tonight of playing at TD Garden, where they’re 16-6 SU this season and 6-1 SU across their last seven home games.
But even though the Hurricanes are the visitors, they’ve proven to be quite comfortable on the road. Carolina has six victories in its last seven away games, averaging 3.86 goals per game while only allowing 1.57 along the way.
Can the Bruins keep their momentum going at home against the Hurricanes, who are 6-1 SU in their last seven road games?
When it comes to offense, both teams haven’t struggled to put up goals this season as Carolina averages 3.4 GPG (9th) while Boston is slightly higher at 3.48 GPG (7th). The clubs are also neck-and-neck when it comes to the man advantage as the Hurricanes boast a 27.0 PP% (3rd) while the Bruins are right behind them at 26.8% (4th).
The penalty kill is also nearly a draw with Carolina sitting at 83.3% (6th) compared to Boston’s 83.9% success rate (4th).
With Daily Faceoff pointing to Linus Ullmark starting for the Bruins, it’ll be interesting to see which version of him shows up. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner might own a 6-1-1 record in his last nine appearances, however, his 2.96 goals-against average and .903 save percentage during that stretch are far from his best numbers.
As for the Hurricanes, Spencer Martin’s recent play has left much to be desired, going 1-3-0 with a 4.63 GAA and .845 SV% in his last four outings.

In what should be an extremely close game, I’m taking the Bruins to edge out the Hurricanes. Carolina has been playing well on the road, but the TD Garden atmosphere tends to give Boston the edge regardless of who’s visiting. Momentum is firmly only the Bruins’ side and I see their stacked lineup taking advantage of Martin’s recent struggles.
With that in mind, let’s also go with the Over on the 6-goal total. Ullmark and Martin both haven’t played consistently lately, opening the door for more goals to be scored. Additionally, not only is the Over 8-4 in Carolina’s last 12 games and 7-3 in Boston’s 10 previous outings, but it’s also 5-1 in the last six matchups between these clubs at TD Garden, averaging 6.5 goals per game.
In other words, expect this game to bring out the best of both teams, resulting in more goals than expected.

Best Hurricanes vs Bruins NHL Player Prop (1/24)
Let’s have some fun by taking David Pastrnak as an anytime goal scorer for the best Hurricanes vs. Bruins player prop.
Biggest growth in David Pastrnak's game these last few years has to be his strength on the puck.

Pastrnak has been a goal-scoring machine lately, racking up 13 goals in his last 17 games. He has five goals in his last last four games alone, finding the back of the twine in three of those contests. Furthermore, the Czech sniper has potted six goals in his last eight meetings with the Hurricanes, which includes three goals in the last four clashes at TD Garden.
Showing no signs of slowing down, expect more of the same from Pastrnak tonight.
