Today’s Flyers vs Blackhawks prediction and best NHL bets are brought to you by BetOnline. BetOnline is a market leader in sports betting, offering various options from the NHL to the NBA and everything in between.
The NHL has two national broadcasts scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 21, beginning with a clash between the Philadelphia Flyers (29-20-7) and Chicago Blackhawks (15-38-3) at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
The Flyers look to avoid a third consecutive loss after falling 6-3 to the New Jersey Devils over the weekend. The Blackhawks haven’t been playing well either, dropping to 1-9 SU in their last 10 games with a 6-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.
Regarding winning a championship this season, both clubs are long shots. Philadelphia is currently tied for the 20th-best 2023-24 Stanley Cup odds at +6000 while Chicago has been so bad that it doesn’t even carry any odds, per BetOnline’s future markets.
Will either team improve their championship aspirations with a win tonight? Let’s dive into this Flyers vs. Blackhawks betting preview to see.

Flyers vs Blackhawks Prediction & Pick (2/21): Will Chicago’s Skid Continue?
Is there really much of a reason to have faith in a Blackhawks upset tonight?
Chicago has been the NHL’s worst team this season and its latest stretch perfectly encapsulates that fact. Not only are the Blackhawks 1-9 SU in their last 10 games, but they’re only averaging 1.4 goals per outing during that stretch. They only scored more than two goals three times while being shut out three times.
Returning to the United Center doesn’t give the Blackhawks much of an advantage. After all, they’re 1-4 SU while getting outscored 16-10 on aggregate in their last five home games.
While the Flyers are coming off back-to-back losses, they have played well on the road this season, going 15-8-5 in away games. They have also produced results in Chicago, boasting a 3-1 SU record in their past four trips to the Windy City.
The Flyers hope to continue their recent road success against the Blackhawks.
Speaking of which, the Flyers tend to emerge victorious whenever they collide with the Blackhawks. Philadelphia has seven victories in its last nine meetings with Chicago, which includes a 5-4 victory when these teams last met on April 13, 2023.
The Flyers also have a handful of advantages ahead of tonight’s clash. For starters, they rank 22nd for goals for and 12th for goals against per game while the Blackhawks rank 32nd and 29th, respectively.
Both power players are bad, however, the Flyers are slightly better (13.3%, 31st) than the Blackhawks (13.1%, 32nd). Having said that, it’s the Flyers who own the No. 2-ranked penalty kill whereas the Hawks are much further down the list at 23rd.

You can never rely on the Blackhawks to pull off an upset, which is why we’re taking the Flyers tonight. Philadelphia isn’t playing its best hockey at the moment, but a date with Chicago could be what it needs for a turnaround. The Flyers have dominated the Blackhawks over recent years and I don’t expect anything different tonight.
With that being said, let’s also back the Flyers at -1.5 on the puck line. Of the Blackhawks’ 38 regulation losses this season, 30 of them came by a multi-goal margin with seven of those instances occurring in their last 11 games alone.
Considering that Philly’s last seven wins over Chicago also came by an average of two goals, I’m confident in the Flyers’ ability to cover again.
Flyers vs Blackhawks Prediction: PHI wins

Best Flyers vs Blackhawks NHL Player Prop (2/21)
As far as my favorite Flyers vs. Blackhawks player prop goes, let’s take the Over on Sean Couturier’s 2.5-shot total.
Couturier has consistently hit this prop lately, finishing with the Over in six of his last nine games while averaging 3.2 shots per contest. On top of averaging 3.2 SOG in his last 10 games against the Blackhawks, the veteran forward also tallied the Over in seven of those games.
With Chicago also allowing the third-most SOG to center this season, I’d be surprised if Couturier doesn’t register at least three shots tonight.
Best Flyers vs Blackhawks Prop Bet: Sean Couturier 02.5 Shots on Goal (-124)
