If you want to know what the model is saying about betting on the NHL today, you’ve come to right place! Many teams in the playoff hunt are in action tonight including Detroit, Philadelphia, Nashville, Buffalo and the New York Islanders. Two contenders face off with Winnipeg taking on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. There are 13 games in the NHL tonight starting at 7 PM ET, so let’s get in the lab.
Noah Dobson will aim to help the @NYIslanders move closer to a Wild Card seed when his club takes on the @Canes at 7:30 p.m. ET on @hulu and @ESPNPlus.#NHLStats: https://t.co/vOxT4L3o8a pic.twitter.com/L15My7Hvbg

Minnesota Wild ML + Nashville Predators 60-min ML Parlay (-105)
The Wild are playing the Ducks, who have lost 6 straight games. The Predators are playing the Sharks who lose by 2 more often than they win, and are 1-7-2 in their last 10. IN their last 10 games, the Predators have covered the -1.5 spread on 7 occasions, the most of any NHL team in the last 10. In case of a late goal, I’m backing them in regulation and parlaying it with Minnesota to win against the lottery-bound Ducks. You can take both on the spread, but getting these lines together at nearly even money is good value. The Wild have a 79% chance to win tonight and Nashville is even higher at 81% to win in regulation. With implied odds of 51% on the parlay and a projected win % at 64%, this line has value.
Nashville is 8-0-2 on their march up the standings and while the Wild haven’t been hot, they’ll need the win tonight to keep pace in the Western Conference Wild Card race. Currently they sit 5 points out of the final spot and will need to win 10 of their remaining 14 games to have a shot at the playoffs. The cutline is projected to be around 93 points, making tonight’s game against the Ducks, a crucial one for Minnesota.
Top Point Props
Roman Josi Over 0.5 Points (-145)
If you’ve been following us at Betting News, you know Shaggy fades the Sharks in every game. Guess who’s playing the Sharks tonight? Roman Josi and the Nashville Predators. Josi is second on the Preds in scoring and has 42(!) more points than the next defenceman on Nashville. He’s only 4 back of Filip Forsberg for the team lead and has registered a point in nearly 70% of his games this season. He has 2 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games and has recorded at least one point in 8 of his last 10. He’s the catalyst of the Nashville powerplay taking on the 4th worst penalty kill in the NHL this season. Nashville’s powerplay as clicked at 25% over the last 2 weeks and is creating a ton of scoring chances. Josi’s ability to score, as well as distribute the puck on the powerplay.
Nashville has been one of the best teams in the NHL over the last month and Josi is a major reason why. He’s consistently shutting down opponent’s best players and putting up point totals that would be expected from second line forwards. He’s projected for a 79% chance of recording a point against the lowly Sharks and frankly, has some value as a point ladder candidate.
Nikita Kucherov Over 0.5 Assists (-150)
This line seems extraordinarily short given that Kucherov has 16 assists in his last 10 games and at least 1 in all of those games. He’s an assist machine and is on the periphery of the MVP conversation. Vegas is giving up more goals than usual and has not been great defensively of late, giving up 3+ goals in 80 of their last 10. Tampa is scoring at a typical Tampa clip, 3+ goals in 8 of their last 10. Kucherov has a point on 49% of Tampa Bay’s goals this season. Simple math indicates that if Tampa were to score 3 goals in tonight’s matchup against Vegas, Kucherov would figure in on at least one of them, if not more.
Piggybacking on Kucherov, his chemistry with Stamkos has been a nightmare for other teams lately. Stamkos’ point line is juiced to -190 and does not have value, but given the implied odds, it would seem that books are predicting their chemistry to continue and factor in on a goal together. Kucherov has been an assist machine this season, with an assist in 70% of his games. Strictly on value and trend, this is a great prop. Add in that the model, which gives him a nearly 80% chance of tallying an assist tonight, we’re hammering it.
Nico Hischier Over 0.5 Points (-170)
Hischier has recorded a point in 4 of 5 and 8 of his last 10. He’s been all over the ice offensively for the Devils, creating scoring chances for teammates and capitalizing on his own. Nico has created the most expected goals of anyone on his team in the last 10 games and has been an offensive catalyst. He’s got a projected win rate of 70% on this line tonight, which far exceeds the implied odds of 63%. Travis Green has loaded up his top line since taking over the bench playing Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt on either side of Hischier. He’s effectively stacking the deck on one supremely talented offensive line and hoping they generate enough to win games. While it hasn’t translated to wins, the trio are producing more offensively. Tonight, Hischier and Devils face off against the Penguins, who have given up at least 3 goals in 9 of their last 10 games. If they are giving up 3 tonight, which seems likely at this point, expect Hischier to figure in on the scoresheet. Hischier’s shot line of 2.5 is another great option as he’s hit it in 8 of his last 10.
